This was a pleasant mid-range hotel stay. The staff at reception spoke very good english, were friendly(and good looking) and very helpful. They provided maps, taxis, information and were funny too!
Going through the tv channels in my room (90%sport) I guess the Alga is where soccer fans come to stay for matches.Milan is the home of soccer giants Inter and AC Milan.Due to the heat wave and an early flight I chilled in my room for the day.I don't mind a bit of heat(it was about 32C)but it may have been too much for other travellers here. The room was big enough, big bathroom, big window, big view of suburban Milan. It's not the fashionable part though.
I wouldn't mention this other than too explain why I gave it an above average rating but there was only one problem. While crossing the room barefoot I wished I hadn't.It hadn't seen a good hoovering for a while. No problem for lads on a soccer trip but bring slippers or complain!

The rooms were very clean and fully equipped, the service was great and the breakfast, to put it this way, VERY yummy! Although it was pretty far from the city, not at all within walking distance, one could not lack anything, from Internet access to mini-markets. Across the freeway (crossing is made via an overpass) there are a gas station and a free way multi-purpose stop, with restaurant, brasserie, and all things necessary. Throughout my stay at Alga, I felt like living in a suburb of Milan, though quiet (except for the freeway), easily accessible. :)

Too faraway from city centre

A nice hotel, but slightly too far south from the Milan city centre.
You need to take the metro to the end of the green metro line (I believe the stop is Famagosta) and then change to a bus. The hotel is one bus stop away. It is not close to Linate airport as I was led to believe.
