I am a very regular customer of this hotel, staying there on average twice a month for 3-4 nights each visit. The good things about the Metro are the breakfast, service and quality of rooms. The bad thing can also be the quality of rooms - if you're on the Corso Vercelli side of the hotel the trams thunder past, seemingly inches from your bed, shaking the coathangers in the wardrobe and seriously compromising your quality of sleep. The rooms at the back of the hotel are, by contrast, very quiet. However, even as a regular customer, reception often ignores my requests to be given a room at the back - in view of the regularity of my stays (they recognise me on sight now), you'd think they'd make more of an effort. Now to the ugly...if you're in one of the older-style rooms on the two lower floors, the drainage in the showers is sometimes not very good, so if you're prone to athlete's foot make sure you buy some spray! My general impression of the Metro is that if you get a good room your stay will be really pleasant. If, however, you get a bad room, you'll wish you'd booked somewhere else.

Stayed at the Metro Hotel for 3 nights in March 2006, in town for a business conference. Had a single room which was really small by American standard, modern decor and well furnished, modern, clean bathroom. Located at the end of the shopping area of Corso Vercelli and Corso Magenta, it was within walking distance (20-30 min) to my conference venue, fancy shops and the Santa Maria delle Grazie (location of Lenardo da Vinci's Last Supper). 10 min or so away from the metro, to go to the Duomo and other parts of Milan. Very nice breakfast included in the room rate, staff were courteous and pleasant, spoke adequate English. A few restaurants nearby, including some ethnic (Chinese, Thai and Japanese, a nice change for an Asian American living in Italy) but nothing like the choice of bars and ristorante near the main touristy areas. All in, a decent hotel with modern furnishings.

I was in Milan with my family last year and loved the service I had in METRO Hotel, we even lost our car keys and they were very helpful with us. The rooms were very clean, the room service was really good, breakfast was excellent and the view from the top where we were eating was very pleasant. For the price I really recomend this Hotel and I am planning to go in the near future....From Miami

A most pleasant hotel where refurbishment to a modern style is almost complete. Manager & staff all helpful, charming and responded to good manners and atrocious Italian. Delightful breakfast conservatory on the top floor serving a good buffet breakfast & good coffee with views over the nearby street. Reccomended to us by Milanese friends & we would reccomend too
Disgraceful behaviour

I deem it necessary to inform you of the unacceptable behaviour of the owner of the Hotel Metro', Corso Vercelli 61, Milano. I had booked 3 nights for my wife and mother in law (both Turkish citizens), but when they arrived they could find no reservation. There was, apparently, one room available for the night (for the other nights we were on our own), but unfortunately it was not free yet (at 7:00 pm!), so they were asked to leave their passports and return later. Later, at 10:00 pm, it turned out that the room had not been freed after all. To our remonstrations, the owner answered by shouting at my wife to "go back to your country"!
Beside the fact that, my wife being married to an Italian, Italy is her own country too, I do believe that such a behaviour is beyond the pale of decency. As the Metro Hotel is catering to a Business clientele, I suggest to inform people planning trips to Milan to find another place to spend their nights.
