well where do i start it was all terrrible the only good thing was the pub next door!
The welcome was totally unacceptable not polite infact nearly agressive!!
And the room well i would have been more happy sleeping in a tent as at least it would be clean i spent the night led on top of the bed as i was afraid what may have been in it i think they havent heard of washing powder or infact washining machines.
There was dark brown marks everywhere on the walls on the ceiling on the floor and even on the bed there were cracks in the walls and nothing was acceptable at all ive stayed in better hostals then this it was just awful i really hope the owners pick up their act or go out of buisness as if i treated people like this i would be out of a job.
Do Yourself a favour buy stay away from this hotel its just awful!!

I stayed one night . The price including Breakfast was £20 for a single room B&B (£25 for a double)! this offer applies to Saturday nights only and at that price it is a bargain. The hotel is standard fairly modern (50 rooms)Travel Lodge style and comparable in quality and price at normal rates ~£45 double room midweek. The attached pub had a good value carvery from £3.95 and the breakfast was fine.

Well were do we start. I think the easiest way to do this is to make a list.
- On arrival you are greeted by a note in reception to say, "Phone ext 201 for assistance". Then eventually somebody from the nearby pub arrives to check you in.
- They could not find my booking, for some reason they had it registered under my first name.
- After a long walk through various corridors and stairways you reach you room.
- First we were greeted by the smell! (It smelt like something had died under the floorboards.) Even after leaving the window open for 20 hours the smell was no better.
- It was a twin room. (was expecting a double, but never mind). One of the beds made you feel see-sick! It kept rocking when you sat on it; I think it was about to collapse to be honest.
- The walls were filthy and the plaster was cracking quite badly.
- The floor was on a considerable slant.
- We had to tune the TV in ourselves and the so-called satellite TV consisted of Sky News and Sky Sports, neither which actually worked.
- There was a skylight in the bathroom that leaked on you when you were using the loo or the sink.
- The shower was either freezing of boiling. (The controls seems to make no difference)
- All the hotel rooms slammed, which is not a good idea in a place where people are trying to sleep.
There were 11 of my family staying there that weekend and everyone of use complained about the rooms. My cousin booked the Dick Turpin Suite. I’m not sure why they call it a suite as it consisted of a small bedroom and bathroom. The only difference was the room did contain a four- poster bed as stated. They had a small child with them but the only family room was already booked. They asked if the room would be ok for the three of them and where told yes. An arrival they discovered that there was just about enough room to walk around the bed never mind for a child’s cot. They paid £85 per night for this! The other rooms were £55. Why the hotel didn’t tell then the room was too small for three I do not know. (I suppose that don't care as long as they have your money!)
I have waffled on for so long now that you have probably given up reading but I had to warn people. I have never complained about the hotel before but I thought I ought to this time and warn people to stay somewhere else. Some others staying in Dunstable that night stayed in the near by Travel Lodge/Travel Inn, not sure which but they were happy there. I’d try there just do not stay in the Highwayman Hotel (It’s daylight robbery!) (Sorry about the joke but I could resist!) BUT SERIOUSLY I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE STAY HERE!
