Stayed overnight during the weekend. Found the place to be lovely and old fashioned in a really good way. Fantastic lift with a bench in, as the hotel centrepiece. We had a great room looking out to sea and the pier which was a good size, albeit a very small bathroom. Friendly staff who were helpful, and a lovely breakfast room with fresh food off the menu as opposed to heated buffet. Good value for money.

I stayed at the Chatsworth when I covered the tennis in Eastbourne in 2006. When I returned I was placed in the sister hotel down the road which I did not like at all, poor room, breakfast table in the middle of the dining room on my own surrounded by coach parties. To their credit they listened to my complaints at the time and I have just heard from my office that they have booked me into a searoom view for this year's tournament. I will look forward to it. Pleasant bar, pleasant breakfast, nice little terrace overlooking the sea and very friendly staff. No complaints at all for a three star privately run hotel.
I shall look forward to my few days , the tennis(highly recommended pre Wimbledon ) and some very good restaurants, well, alright, not that many - but a really excellent Chinese!
IT IS NOT A FIVE STAR AND IT DOES NOT CHARGE FIVE STAR PRICES SO JUDGE IT ON WHAT IT IS AND NOT WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE!
See you there

I booked a room here at short notice and needing somewhere cheap and convenient for my work in Brighton,so in that sense it was ok.Parking was less than it would have been as a non-resident,and the location was good, near the seafront, local shops and cafes, and buses.
The proprietor was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast ok.
However,I couldn't bring myself to stay here again, the floor was filthy, hairs in the shower tray,a dirty tissue on the bedroom floor, depressing decor, not -clean-looking tea cups in the room...
Dust on the shelves above the sink.
Bed seemed clean and comfortable...
but I was not sad to leave.
Needs a thourough clean and upgrade!

The outside of the hotel looks impressive, as does the lobby, but it's all downhill from there. The hotel is "tired" and needs a couple of million spent on it to bring it up to standard. Our room was really small, with badly fitted units, more suited to a single room rather than a double. Really overpriced for what we got. Breakfast was ok, but overall not somewhere that I would ever consider going back to.

Would'nt recommend this place - nice location but struggling to keep up with the times. Was probably very grand 10 years ago! Plenty of other accommodation in Brighton so save your money!
