We stayed here for one night in July 2008 and loved it!! This is such as lovely hotel with friendly and welcoming staff. One of the staff on the Reception even took the time to draw out the route of the Santa Rosalina procession which took place that evening. The staff speak fantastic English and always greet you with a smile. The room was lovely and there was no traffic noise even though our window faced the street outside. Everything was exceptionally clean, and the bathroom was amazing with a walk-in shower with the biggest shower head you've ever seen!!
Check-in and out were quick and simple. The location is fantastic for everything in Palermo, and we found the city safe to walk around at night. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Excellent hotel and great location. Cannot complain about a thing. Except no one speaks English or understands...not even the front desk.

Grand Hotel et Des Palmes is in a perfect location to see all the sights that Palermo has to offer. It is luxurious (refer to the photos - it really is like this), spacious and the service is superb.
Most of the staff DO speak English.
The Hotel is actually a famous location historically where everyone who has been anyone met to discuss politics, commercial deals or just gossip. I loved it.

A former residence in the 1880's, Hotel des Palmes is a very old world, historical accommodation filled with stories both famous and infamous. From the moment you walk into the marbled, gilted lobby you will know the place is infused with history. Renovated rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated, if a tiny bit on the smallish side. Ask for a room on the courtyard if noise is a problem for you. It was beautifully quiet. Bed comfortable, few bathroom amenities for a hotel of this price category; bathroom is smallish and there was no tub for you bathers out there. A nice feature is the built-in dual voltage plug-in in bathroom. Good lighting in room.
Most concierges on duty (except the "night" guy) were extremely helpful. Hotel is within walking distance of most important sites.
Dining area has high glass skylight ceiling to which there is a gruesome story attached! They have good "deals" on their own website, so check it out before using a booking engine. Included breakfast is excellent with many choices, all tasty, fresh, abundant.
