This business hotel is situated at the quay of the river Rhine in a relatively quiet neighbourhood, just next to the Kennedy bridge just 5 walking mins. from the pedestrian zone and the market square and 5 taxi mins. (EUR 6.-) from the main train station Bonn HB. The only public transportation from Cologne/Bonn airport is via airport bus no. 670, departing from Terminal 2 and will drop you off at stop Beethovenstrasse/SWB 26mins. later, just walk towards Beethovenhalle and the river Rhine, at the quay turn right. I can recommend this short walk only with good weather and little luggage otherwise just get off the the main train station and take a cab.
As gold card member I first received an upgrade to a spacious king size bed on ground level, at the darker side facing the bridge and the street cars. Luckily or not, I then got a more quiet King size bed with little balcony on the 2nd floor which was unfortunately a smoking room and I tried to have fresh oxygen clean the smell where I failed. Nonetheless the King size room offered view on the river Rhine, working desk with Wifi at charge, inroom safe, ironing set, trouser press, rather small but modern bathroom equipped only with a modern shower.
Housekeeping would do better! The fitness room had some machines ready plus a separate smaller pool. The breakfast buffet/restaurant isn’t the greatest, but sufficient to serve my early needs and service could improve, too.
The location is very central, more non-smoking rooms would be nice, my stay nevertheless was short but pleasant.

We were lucky to have a very large comfortable room with a king size bed and a separate sitting room. The room was clean and spacious. The hotel staff were excellent, very polite and helpful.
The buffet style breakfast is superb with a great selection, more than adequate to set you up for the day. We only used the restaurant in the evening once and again it was very good with a good selection.
The bar is small and as they allow smoking became very smoky quickly. The bar staff were very polite and the prices were reasonable.
The mini bar in the room was also reasonably priced, room service was also very reasonable and welcomed after a cold night out walking around the Christmas market.
The hotel is situated overlooking the River Rhine, our room overlooked the river which was another bonus. It is conveniently placed for public transport which we found run very frequently.
If you are visiting the Christmas Markets I would recommend taking a trip to The Medieval Market, it offers a great atmosphere, good food, great costumes and stalls.

A real nice Hilton

I stayed at the Hilton Bonn when travelling from southern Germany over to the Netherlands. I arrived late and was pleasantly surprised by the clean well- lighted underground parking garage. Check-in was quick and very friendly and as a diamond member I got an upgrade. The lobby area was very busy - seemed like a place a lot of people come for a drink or light meal. The room was very clean and well appointed. Breakfast the next morning was a very good buffet with the usual items and a few specials. They had a outdoor seating area which would have been nice on a warmer day. Check out was also fast and efficient. Overall a great, although short, stay.

Tolles Personal, leicht veraltete Zimmer
Guest name: Anonymous
Great staff, slightly dated rooms

The Hilton in Bonn is just what you expect of the Hilton chain. The staff are its biggest asset, friendly and courteous and they certainly go out of their way to make the guest welcome. I booked a superior room with view onto the “terrace”. The “terrace” is actually just a big concrete square which may or may not come to life in the warmer months. The room was large(ish) and had all the usual trappings: mini-bar, TV, desk, chair and also came with a bathrobe and slippers. The furniture was not new and showed signs of wear and tear. The décor was more 80s than 21st century and it may be time for the Hilton Bonn go with the times: LCD TVs, clean simple colours rather than big patterns. NH hotels are a good example in that regard. That said it was still a relative comfortable room though for reasons unknown to me I was unable to cool the room down despite air-condition up (I think this was really just a fan) and radiators turned down.
The breakfast is extensive and offers everything one might desire. Make sure though to book a rate with the breakfast included as the hotel charges exorbitant amounts extra if it is not included in your rate.
My one gripe would be the audacity of the Hilton Bonn to charge €6 for a bottle of still mineral water!
However I would stay again at the Hilton.
