Typical Hilton - Great Tourist Location

Like most Hilton Hotels, this appeared to be mainly a business hotel, but it is right in the heart of the old town making it a good choice if you are a tourist visiting Antwerp. It was within easy walking distance to the Cathedral and most of the tourist attractions (except the diamond museum). We had no problems with check-in/check-out, and the room was fairly large. The room was typical Hilton fare meaning everything was good quality but not overly luxurious.
Note that if you are driving to this hotel, prepare yourself for some adventure. We had turn by turn directions from their website and it was still tricky to find. However, once we past a construction issue that threw things off, we had no problems. Like most cities in Europe, there are a lot of one ways, trams, pedestrians, etc., making it a small adventure, especially at dusk in the rain.
The hotel is wheelchair accessible meaning there are no steps to get into the hotel or the room that we stayed in.

A Hilton is always a Hilton, but...

The hotel is well situated, quite near the Cathedral and shopping areas, but was far from my expectations.
Although I was upgraded to the executive floor, and the rooms were spacious I din't like very much my stay. It was very expensive, there was no view and there was a lot of noise from the doors when opening and closing and during the night there was a persistent and annoying noise from the air conditioning,
which was off!, that prevented me to sleep.
Besides the location I didn't really like this Hilton.
The staff was friendly and helpful.

Good quality typical Hilton located right in the centre of Antwerp old town. Business Class room was spacious with separate shower. Restaurant for both dinner and breakfast was good and service friendly. Very efficient check in and check out. My main criticism is the noise from the adjacent street - surprising given the area to the front of the hotel is fully pedestrianised. At 6am the hotel decided to take delivery of very many, presumably Belgian, metal barrels of beer, which given the narrowness of the Antwerp streets, funnelled the noise up to the hotel rooms - not a good way to wake up in the morning!

The Hilton is often full so you do need to book early, especially in the high season. It is one of the better large hotels in the centre of Antwerp (3 minutes walk from the Cathedral) in easy reach of many good restaurants and bars. It is expensive, but no more so that other international brand hotels in a city centre. Rooms are well appointed, large and the one I stayed in had been recently refurbished. Hard to find by car, so either use Sat Nav or get a cab. Breakfast is expensive. Look outside for local cheaper options.
