We had planned a short vacation at Colombo. I had read reviews of the Hilton Colombo Residence on the websites, but with quite diagonally different views. I was quite confused of what i was heading for. Anyway for all...here is my first hand experience.
We were picked up from the airport...a decent vehicle sedan but just comfortable for 3 adults with child. A very long drive..took us around 60 minutes to reach the hotel. A well protected, secure entrance, welel guarded gives you a sure comfort feel. You are greeted witht he small but cosy reception. The staff are courterous and pleasing. Check-In was handled efficiently. The room we took was a Family Suite with 2 Bedrooms. Quite happy with the space, furniture, and ambience of the room decor. Gave us a value for money appeal. Apparently the bedrooms have only one as a Master King Bed and other rooms are with a single Bed. The Swimming pool is refreshing. A good Gym, Sauna and Steam bath facilities. We are let down by the breakfast spread and the service of the In-Suite DInning. Not at all recommended for any food., untill u dont have a choice. The concerige / travel guidance provided is quite confusing..You are left thinking...why you asked their advice anyway. But the travel cars. drivers are safe and cooperatative for local drive, shopping etc. There is a Pizza Hut round the corner and a Bar and Grill round the corner for taking a quick bite. The city is not safe..we were robbed off our footwear in the local city temples...Sad memory. You will quite unsafe to take the local autorikshaw/taxis which are not from the hotel. Finally, we would say the hotel was good, we had a relaxing time. So No Regrets but dont expect more from the Hilton Banner.

This is such a great place to stay, especially long-term. We had an apartment with 1 double room and 2 singles with a bathroom, shower room, kitchen and great lounge for £100 a night. Opodo forgets to mention that you have to pay 28% taxes in addition to the total price they quote which I didn't appreciate, but the hotel is fantastic. The facilities are brilliant, with great room service which is so cheap and fantastic food. The pool is nice and they have flood-lit tennis courts.
Will definitely book in again next time I'm in Colombo!

We returned to Sri Lanka after 18 years to host our daughters wedding from the UK. The booking was done through the www.hilton.com site where we saw some great images of their suites and facilities. I must say that we were very impressed with what we were offered on arrival, it was just as we imagined. We booked a deluxe plus suite and was upgraded to an executive residence suite for a nominal suplimentary charge. The view from the 31st floor was just breathtaking. The only draw back was that there were no service elevators and hence caused some delays. The helpfulness of the hotel staff was better than we have experienced any where. We really enjoyed our stay at the Hilton Colombo Residence and would recommend it to anyone travelling to Colombo.

Easy to book on line.
Recieved free airport pick up as advertised on the net at the time. I gathered that this is no longer available.
Check in was very smooth, took only couple of minutes.
We had a standard 3 bedroom apartment in 22nd floor. It is fairly average. Kitchen and washing machine is really useful.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. They were very caring, thoughtful and understanding of my disabled son.
Breakfast is reasonable. Dinner was good on Firdays and Saturdays when they had buffet. Dinner without buffet was awful. Do not expect Sri Lanka food.
This is a good hotel for family. I am really impreseed with how they lookafter the disabled. Do not expect good food.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom suite at the 23rd Floor. Nice view of a lake and the Ocean. Rooms are good and the staff, although slow, was friendly and helpful. Some basic things were missing for an apartment, but it was okay. The kitchen was nice and everything worked fine. In-room Internet was expensive. The "magic" team (which is the service team to call for almost everything) are really helpful. However there was a guy at the reception who kept telling me that I need to change to a lower floor because I was at the business floor, which according to him was not what I paid for. However the "magic" team kept saying I could keep the suite. So there was a lack of co-ordination among the staff. The most annoying thing about Hilton residence is the near by temple. Continuously two days and nights of prayers from a loud speaker was really annoying. The apartments are not sound proof and its hard to sleep during night because of the prayer sounds from the Buddhist Temple. It went on for two days.
