We just returned from a 2 week trip to France with our 2 children (8 and 10 year old boys). We spent 5 nights at the Pavillon de la Reine in the Victor Hugo suite which had a living room with a pull out for the boys. The room was spacious and nicely appointed with a stereo and even a small kitchen. The location on Place de Voges is lovely and the hotel's courtyard is beautiful. Our rate included a nice breakfast in a lovely vaulted room downstairs. The hotel's honesty bar was a welcome escape after long days touring Paris. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful in choosing among the many local dining options. We had a perfect stay and will definitely stay at Pavillon de la Reine when we return to Paris.

My wife and I spent a wonderful week. The staff was very courteous and helpful, the room and service "5 star+" We will make this our home in Paris for all future visits.
The location on The Place de Vosges made it even more grand. It is with in walking distance of many attractions, and a short taxi to everything, avoiding the big city part of Paris.

I stayed 4 nights at the Pavillion de la Reine in mid-June, 2008. It is in an excellent location in the up-and-coming Marais neighborhood with good Metro connections and conveniently located good restaurants. The Place des Vosges is also in transition, with the north side where the hotel is located being charming and upscale, while the south side is derelict with at least one homeless occupant camped out prominently in view. The building was first occupied in 1612 and the conversion of it to a modern hotel is impressive. A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
The courtyard setting, front appearance and public rooms are charming, my room slightly less so, but more than satisfactory. The approach to the hotel is so appealing that a steady stream of tourists step in from the Place to gawk. I had a lower cost non-smoking suite which was not overly large, but undoubtedly was more spacious than lower room categories and I was glad I hadn't chosen a smaller room. The toilet was strangely located in a closet off the entry hall, two rooms away from the rest of the spacious bath. I would have eliminated the bidet and put the toilet in the bathroom. The two air conditioning units were both noisy, but did the job, although they might be marginal in hot weather--the highest temperature during my stay was 73 degrees. Most other hotels would call my room a junior suite--I had junior suites at two other hotels on this trip that were larger. My room overlooking the front courtyard was very quiet except for the voices of high school students who gathered outside their nearby school entrance for half an hour at about 7:30 am.
The two upholstered chairs were very low with the seats being only about 10 inches from the floor, risking lower back injury. Red geraniums in window boxes provided accent color, helped screen the windows from the courtyard and provided a homey, French touch. The narrow bathtub was cramped, but the shower head above it was ok with lots of hot water. I liked the subbasement breakfast room which has a sort of wine cellar feel and I thought the breakfast buffet was very satisfactory.
The concierges were friendly and helpful. They made reservations for me at three nearby restaurants--two of which provided excellent Parisian dining, but the third was disappointing. My favorite restaurant was Le Pamphlet, with Gaspar de le Nuit close behind. The disappointment was an Italian place called L'Enoteca.
The exchange rate, of course, is awful. To enjoy a stay in Paris you have to put that aside and go with the flow. I enjoyed my stay at the Pavillion de la Reine and will return there on future trips to Paris.

We went to Paris to see an Opera at the Bastille Opera House and booked Pavillon de la Reine for the location - just a five minute walk away. The hotel is a beautiful oasis just off the lovely Place des Vosges and I defy you not to be charmed by the look of the place as soon as you step through the archway into the inner courtyard. We thought the best rooms were those overlooking the courtyard - the luxury category - and well worth the bit extra. The staff were all most welcoming and if you want to stay in the Marais you should not stay anywhere else.
If you can afford to stay at Pavillon de la Reine you can probably afford posh restaurants - but our best tip on a warm evening is to step round the corner to the Place du March? Sainte-Catherine where there are several small local cafes around this very pleasant little square.
