I stayed at the Hilton in Blackpool for one night because I was attending a conference in the hotel the following day. The hotel has a hideous exterior, I agree that the architect who designed it should never work again!
The rooms are clean, fucntional & suitable for a one night stay. My major gripe with the place is the noise - I had a second floor room & wished to get an early night, unfortunately I was directly above the bar & was therefore subject to the cabaret that was being performed there. A colleague was kept awake until 4am by other noisy guests. The walls are paper thin so if you are a light sleeper I would avoid this hotel.
A major positive for me was the swimming pool, I took an early morning swim & I thought the pool was very pleasant. It was very quiet as well so I could fully enjoy my swim. The food was nice enough & breakfast was filling.
I probably paid a corporate rate so I don't think the price was too excessive, if you're staying in Blackpool for pleasure though I would definitely explore other hotels.

I stayed in July 2008 paying ?78 b&b (conference delegate rate).
Overall better than I expected, much of the interior has been re-furbished and feels almost plush in places.
Positives:
- Upper floor rooms have good view over the sea
- Good breakfast
- Generally well-staffed
- Reasonable value for money
- Comfortable feel
Negatives
- A brutally ugly building which typifies the continuing arrogance of some of the large hotel groups
- Some staff 'blind' to rubbish and mess, i.e. the bar staff cleared empty glasses off tables but left crisp wrappers etc.
- Inconsiderate smokers always loitering by the entrance
- Chaotic check-in
- Request for wake-up call and newspaper ignored or forgotten
- Some rooms are above the cabaret area which continues into the small hours
- Bar drinks very expensive
A colleague also staying at the hotel advised that a rather loud 'session' involving 4 consenting adults in the adjacent room went on until 4.30am and it took repeated requests for the Hotel management to intervene.
The Town
Even in the middle of July there is barely a blade of grass to be seen block after block along the front - Blackpool as a whole remains, regrettably, a grim and un-inspiring place to visit and extensive re-working of the sea wall defences means much of the promenade has long-term building work going on.

just returned from hilton for a two night stay.we booked with late rooms and got a really good deal.we thought the room would maybe be in need of updating with not booking with hotel, not so .our room was everything you would expect from a five star hotel ,the bed would have fit three people in it was that big.only thing i would say is in a five star hotel you have five star prices,so eat and drink else were unless you get a good deal when booking, our deal inclued breakfast but if not would have been ?15 each.coffee in the bar was almost ?3.the bus and tram stop at the front of hotel and go into centre of blackpool in no time at all.

Stayed one night last week as a stopover travelling south on holiday. The hotel was nice enough but not as central as I expected. The staff on reception were friendy, and the evening meal was superb. The room was very spacious and clean, however it was rather tatty, especially the bathroom. There was hairs in the sink when we arrived and the bath panel was very chipped. The shower head was quite worn around the fixings and there wasnt enough towels. The TV didnt work properly, however the staff at reception did try and help but we gave up. For a normal hotel it was good, For the Hilton it was poor

I have just returned from a weekend at the Blackpool Hilton.
It has to be one of the ugliest hotels in Blackpool (and that is saying something!) and the architect should never work again. It's a dreadfully ugly building with all the attraction of a public toilet BUT having said all that, it had a very large car park and it was one of the better Hilton hotels I have stayed in.
My room had a notice on the door: CLUB ROOM. I feared this might mean that lots of us might be sharing it but no worries.
It was an adequate size (I would really expect larger in a Hilton) but as I was on my own it was ok. There were twin beds and the bedding was clean and comfortable, as was the bed.
There was plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space with iron, ironing board, bathroom hairdryer AND one in the drawer with a diffuser! :-)
There were tea and coffee facilities and internet access (?15 for 24 hrs)
The fitments were in good condition as was the carpet.
The bathroom was perfectly adequate with lots of nice toiletries, tissues and white fluffy towels.
My room had a lovely sea view and I could watch the waves pounding on the prom at high tide (weather not so good!)
I had a great view of a fireworks display on Friday evening.
Breakfast was very good, lots of choice and plenty of tables.
Snacks in the lounge bar were somewhat expensive - but nice.
The swimming pool was adequate size and very nice.
The situation at the north end of Blackpool is quite good and trams plough past with great regularity.
All in all if you *have* to stay in Blackpool (I was there for a conference) then the Hilton is a decent hotel to stay. The south end of Blackpool looks seedy and dilapidated and there are large gangs of single sex parties on stag/hen nights which would be quite offputting if one was looking for a family holiday.
