My husband and I stayed here last weekend for a night, just to get away. I had booked on the hotel website and I assumed from all the press and descriptions that the whole hotel had been renovated. Not so! The room that I had booked was apparently a Guestroom which meant that it was refurbished but the bathroom was not renovated. Also, though I booked a King room, they gave me a tiny room with a double bed. The website was very misleading (and I do extensive research before I commit to a booking). I would not have booked to stay at the Hilton if I had known that I wasn't getting one of the new rooms. Anyway, after several conversations with reception, they eventually put us in a renovated room, which I believe is the Deluxe room. If they had not done so, it would have been an extremely disappointing stay.
The hotel itself is very minimalist (which I normally like) but it was quite cold in atmosphere. The lobby and cafe are not very inviting. The health club is pretty good - a big pool and spa and 2 saunas and 2 steam rooms. However, the whole atmosphere of the hotel did not feel 5-star.
The best part of the stay was the buffet breakfast at the Glass Brasserie. Highlights were chef cooked-to-order omelettes, a juice bar, very good expresso coffees to order, a large variety of breads and pastries, the atmosphere and view.
I would not stay here again but would consider returning for the breakfast!

The Hilton Sydney is centrally located, just a block away from the main department stores and across the road from the Queen Victoria Building with its luxury shops. The hotel was recently refurbished, and my room was very well equipped, with a proper desk and comfortable king-size bed. I was on the North side of the building, with an oblique view of the harbour and the Sydney Heads, and I was able to see the sun rise over Manly. The Glass brasserie-style restaurant was splendid - we went for a quick meal early on Saturday night and ended up staying for 3 1/2 hours, eating a variety of delicious food from the grill menu, and drinking some of the best Australian wines from the very full wine list. Room service was also good, with generous helpings and prompt service. This hotel isn't cheap (I benefited from a special conference rate), but is certainly good value if you are not constrained by a budget.

My son & I stayed here for 4 nights in April. I have been to many large city big chain hotels in Europe & Asia and have to say that this is one of the best.
The decor is minimalist, urban chic. The rooms are excellently renovated, every touch has been thought off eg no tags to hang on your door knob for do not disturb, just press a button and a small light lights up outside. Motorised blackout blinds make sure that the morning light does not wake you up. Smartphone with onetouch dial for everything.
Staff were friendly & helpful at every touchpoint - check-in, the concierge. They even took the trouble to tell me which door of the hotel to use to avoid a few steps with our cases. Nothing was too much trouble and they gave the sense that they were proud to work there.
Location is reasonably central, about 15 mins walk down Pitt Street will get you to the harbour front. Only downside is that many tall buildings block the harbour view - I was told that some of the rooms are unblocked but most would seem to be obscured.
Restaurant was lovely - an Aussie friend bought us dinner and the service was personalised - they thought of everything, suggested what items might be suitable for a 13-year old and the steaks were excellent.
Will definitely stay there on my next visit to Sydney.
