I can't say I was very impressed by the service recieved at the Paris Hilton Orly. Prepaid through priceline, it appeared to be a good deal at the time. At the final leg of our 3 week trip through Europe, I was content to say that we never encountered any stereotypically "rude French". But our one night stay at this hotel appeared to have remedied this!
We arrived on a delayed flight to Orly Sud 2 hours late putting us close to 11:45pm by the time we got our baggage. Having missed the last of the taxis, we followed airport directions to Exit 'J' to meet the Hilton Shuttle, except there was none to be found. The shuttle stop was actually closer to another exit (i forgot which...maybe G or M) but in either case it was 11:59pm when I finally called using their courtesy phone at their kiosk.
Their sign noted that the shuttle hours end at midnight, but when I contacted the front desk they assured us that the last shuttle was coming to get us. We waited 1/2 hour...no shuttle arrived. No taxis were present as well. We were lucky enough to have a french-speaking local convince the parking lot bus driver to drop us off at the hotel about 5 minutes away by car, but otherwise impossible to navigate by foot due to numerous overpasses and barriers.
Lo and behold when we arrived I saw the shuttlebus parked for the night outside the front door - no driver, nothing. Unbelievable!! Who knows how long we would have been stuck waiting there if not for 24hr parking service?
I would like to have this been the last of our ordeal but when we arrived we found ourselves in the midst of a large convention trying to check into the hotel all at once - at 1am! Normally I wouldn't think of blaming a hotel for large crowds, but with only 2 people at the front desk they should have had better demand management on hand, as it seemed the conventioneers were all prebooked as well. Of course when it finally came time for my turn at the check in counter, I was barely given a cursory glance before being tossed a room key.
When it came time next morning to take the shuttle back to the airport no-one assisted us in the loading or unloading of our luggage...just a pop of the trunk! Now I'm by no means feeble or prissy, but this is a service one would expect from any 3 or 4 star hotel...heck even 2 star hotels have offered to take bags off otherwise capable hands.
I normally would have hardly given the last two transgressions a second thought (especially for an airport hotel which doesn't seem to care about repeat business), but they really, really should have told us that they had no intention of sending their shuttle instead of making us sit around Orly Airport in the middle of the night. First impressions do count.
The rooms themselves were nice, but the hardwood floors were a bit quirky for a Hilton. The bathroom had a trendy, modern renovated look. Unfortunately we were too exhaused from this ordeal to pay any of it much attention.
Lets just say that if we had encountred this in the beginning of the trip, it wouldn't have set a very good tone for our vacation - in what was otherwise a lineup of top-notch hospitality.

The rooms are okay and very clean, although a bit tiny.
The staff isn't the most friendly except for one or two exceptions.
The food and wine is okay, and the proximity to the airport can be very helpful.
But being a Hilton... you would expect more! I guess...

What exactly did I pay that money for? Although the porters and bar and restaurant staff were all nice, however so they should be! there was one incredibly rude lady on reception. When I asked where the sauna was, as mentioned in the room information, she told me it definately didn't say that - when I returned with the info she told me that they used to have one, no appology or concern that it was still in the room info. Then when I asked where my tea making facilities where, as stated in my reservation conformation (which I checked afterwards - but at the time my only option was to pay somewhere around ?30 to 40 to check the internet) she told me it was only the superior rooms. Also they wasted a huge amount of paper on the, several sheets of, bill.
In contrast I stayed at the Orly Holiday Inn the other side of my flight, which was far cheaper, everyone was friendly and helpful, the rooms were larger, nicer and had the facilities I was told they would have.
