I thought with a well known name like Howard Johnson, I would get a bit more quality and good accomodations. I almost cried when I entered the room. Yes, I was being cheap and felt I could save a few bucks to spend on other things in the parks. Where do I start: the towels were thin and small, one washcloth had holes in it, the stopper in the tub we had to take out because it wouldnt stay up for the water to drain out, I found blond hair under my son's arm when I was washing him up, the toilet paper was the thinnest, cheapest paper I've ever used, pillows were thin, room was dank and dark, the air unit was loud and made a whooshing noise the entire time we were there. Rooms were tight and need SO much updating. Could have left but didn't want to spend our vacation looking for other hotels. Positives: close to parks and shops, staff was friendly, rooms were made up everyday. Eat out! restaurants very close by. Breakfast cost 6 dollars each day not including juice which is 2 dollars. Wish I took pictures so the REAL rooms can be seen instead of the ones from the site. Will spend more money next time.

I read the reviews here and wanted to cancel my reservation before I went there.
You would have thought that the hotel was actually one large ant farm. Have you people never seen a bug in your own house. I did not see one bug/ant or anything living other than people in this hotel.
The pictures are of spiffed up rooms, this is not misleading, it's good business.
Yes, children like swimming pools and will be found there. Especially this close to Disneyland.
While we were there, all the beds were replaced with new ones with pillowtop mattresses.
Basic cable, in room microwave, fridge, iron/board, coffee maker, and safe. Yes, programable safe in your room.
A few rouge painters don't like or know how to use tape so the light switches and mirror had some paint on them...oh well...
Close to DisneyLand, Orange Co. Convention center, Seaworld, and 1000 other things along HWY 192.
I got the room from the now defunct Skybus website for $39 each night. Yes it was a little shady when they tac about $10 worth of fees. But this still keeps it lower than if you called them ($49 week nights and $69 weekend nights)
Bottom line. If you want to be pampered without anyone else around rent a house for a week for $1000, If you want a decent place to stay at a decent price because you didn't go to Florida to hang around the hotel, then stay here.

I stayed at the hotel on June 2008 for 7 nights, Had a bad experience with the front desk staff very rude, towels were dirty, my son was sleeping on the floor, what was suppose to be treehouse bunk beds, the bottom bed was in the floor with a 2x4 wood holding the mattress. My toilet was stop up and they bring me the plunger for me to unclog it. walls were dirty, dresser draws were broken, lamps look like a disaster. nothing like the pictures in the internet. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone especially if you have children.

A place to lay your head - THAT'S ALL

I booked our package vacation thru LAST MINUTE TRAVEL. We arrived at our hotel very early(10 am). There are a few HOWARD JOHNSONS on 192 - make sure you are at the correct one. The outside of the hotel looked okay, its NO FOUR STAR - I'm not to sure about the India restaurant that was inside the hotel. It had diarrhea written all over it. We never set foot in the restaurant - I'm not sure if any other guest did too. I asked the front desk clerk if we could check in early if there were rooms available. Unfortunately, there were no rooms available and check in was not until 4 pm. The front desk clerk suggested to check back around 12:30 pm and there may be rooms available.
We explored our surroundings and then came back around 1:30 pm. BUT still no rooms were available. The front desk clerk suggested while we waited, he can give us towels to hang out by the POOL. Of course we didn't pass up the chance to go swimming on a hot day. By the time we got our bathsuits and floaters out of the car, the front desk clerk said he has a room available for us.
We checked in around 2:30 pm. We were given a room on the first level, towards the back of the building. VERY LIMITED PARKING AND NOT MUCH OF A VIEW. There were no working vending machines or ice machines in our area. The only working machines were near the pool & bar area. The pool & hot tub was a descent size. The bar had happy hour from 1-7 pm with a handful of appetizers.
Our room consist of the standard furniture & bedding with a few extras; iron w/ironing board, frig and microwave. The bathroom was small and needed upgrades. First, the bathtub was stained - it needed a good scrubbing and a splash of bleach. Second, the bottom of the door was swollen - when trying to close the door, it would stick and leave pieces of the pressed wood behind. Third, the walls could use a brand new coat of white paint - the walls had black markings and faded paint. Fourth, I'm not sure if house keeping vaccumed the floors - that was well needed. House keeping did a great job cleaning the room & bathroom, taking out the trash and making the beds. I'll give them credit for that.
Overall, our family trip was okay - we had a place to lay our heads and take a shower. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. The room was not bad but it was not the best either.

A nice big room for the price we paid for it. A comfortable room, although hotel based on a motel. Reception very basic. Do not take breakfast at the hotel - cheaper in local restaurants. Overall OK for an overnight stay. We would recommend nothing more than a 1 night stay, as there are better hotels in the area.
