We did not even stay at this hotel. It was questionable on arrival. But we had to stay close in the area due to our car being at the dealrship for repair. The whole strip is questionable in fact. Colorado Springs has far better areas. First the office was dirty and unorganized. When we get our rooms there are belongings for families in both rooms. When we went to the front desk his only response was that he had just got on shift. We asked for a refund and left. What if we were asleep and he gave someone our key. When he gave us our recipt he put on there that we did not like our rooms. Of course not!!!!

Could a Howard Johnson's really be this bad?

What a pit! We booked this for our U15 gir'ls volleyball team, their tournament was nearby. Across the street were 2 former motels that are now apparently used as homeless shelters (a missionary group was serving breakfast in a parking lot). The "Non-smoking" rooms reeked like they were smoked in daily, there were several 1-2" holes in the linen, a large black grease stain on a bath towel, dirt and debris in every corner, mold around the bath exhaust fan vent, the list goes on. Got into town too late to get another hotel with the number of rooms that we needed. Did not dare try the breakfast that was served in the little hotel office. We reported this place to Howard Johnson's International and their response was that it was a franchise, so they could do nothing except forward our complaints to the actual owners. The owner's response was to send a very old re-copy of a letter that offered us 30% off our next stay!!! UNBELIEVABLE. Why would we go back?!!!
Would not stay again

The desk people were great. Scary guy making threats about someone possibly staying there, while I was checking in. Sheets were dirty and wrinkled, with a cigarette burn that went from the top spread to sheet below. very dirty stairs outside. Door not stable to be locked. Lots of the same vehicles around day and night. Always got to my room before dark and dead bolted the door. Lots of voices outside my room the 2nd night, I checked out 3 days early the next day. Definately needs a good cleanup and be aware of your surroundings.

Way over-priced. Not worth the money.

This hotel is in need of thorough cleaning and repair. The OUTDOOR stairs smell bad. The carpet INSIDE the room was dirty and stained. I wore my slippers at all times inside the room, and kept my bag on the chair. The bathroom was clean and I was thankful for that.
In the morning, breakfast was in the 10 x 10 "lobby" where there are only 2 chairs and no table. My husband ate a bowl of cereal while standing (the chairs were occupied). I took a donut and left. I did appreciate the 2 newspapers that were outside my door.
Overall, this hotel was definitely NOT worth even the discounted Hotels-- price we paid. The next day we checked into a hotel that was a half hour drive away. We had a luxury suite, a hot breakfast buffet with eggs, omlettes, sausages, waffles, muffins - all for $20 more (non-discounted price) than what we had paid at this hotel.
I will never stay here again.

This hotel is a great deal for traveling families on vacation. Close to the interstate, and to attractions nearby. Rooms were clean and it was quiet. Nice staff, especially the morning desk clerk. We had a nice view of Pike's Peak from our window. I would stay here again.
