Booked this hotel on Priceline for $54 and wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived. The hotel turned out to be very nice. We walked in and the gentleman at the service desk was very nice, even providing us a room with a view on the 4th floor (top floor). Rooms have been tastefully appointed, with nice firm beds, free internet, and classy decor. It's located not too far a walk from downtown and the Riverwalk, and not in a dangerous area of the city either. For the money, you really can't beat this - I was very impressed.

We booked online through the Holiday Inn Priority Club site (we used rewards points) for a quick night in San Antonio after a fun day of enjoying the local attractions. We were among at least 5 other people showing up to check in at 3pm (the official check-in time) but they were having a hard time getting housekeeping to free up clean rooms for us to check in to. It didn't take TOO long, but seemed like if that's the check-in time it should be a little smoother. Anyway, they gave us a little gift bag with a bottle of water and little candies for being Priority Club members, so that was nice.
The hotel is in a decent location; we easily walked to the Marketplace, which is a must-see if you come to San Antonio! From there we walked to the Riverwalk, which was a bit longer but quite beautiful and lots of fun. If it had been dark and late we would have gotten a taxi back to the hotel, but we wound up walking and it wasn't too bad.
As for the room, when we arrived the door was actually still open. The door didn't seem to fit the doorway and took a fair amount of effort to open and close it, so the maid just didn't try hard enough to close it I guess. Once we got it closed, it turned out one of our keys didn't work. We had two keys so it wasn't a huge deal, but please - both keys should work. The room was very clean, and had a balcony overlooking a solid brick wall - whoops, what's the point of that? The biggest bummer was the alarm clock, which went off at full blast at 6am, then again a few minutes later. I'm sure we could have turned it off if we'd thought to check it before going to bed, but we've never done that in a hotel before so I guess housekeeping normally takes care of that? Anyway, they didn't this time!
The rest of the hotel was okay, still under renovations. Stairs were dirty and dank, hallways and elevator were not air conditioned, and the public restrooms were under construction so they had a few ground floor hotel rooms acting as "restrooms" which was just weird. The pool, on the other hand, was gorgeous!!! We didn't use it during our stay but it was extremely pretty and very inviting. The hotel bar is okay at best - food is way too fancy and expensive for a tiny hotel bar, but the beer was a decent deal and the help was nice.
For what we paid (nothing) and how long we stayed (1 night) it was not bad at all. San Antonio is a beautiful city and I'd love to go back someday, but when we do I'll probably spring for one of the nicer places next to the Riverwalk. I don't think I'll be back to this Holiday Inn.
Nice hotel for the price

Hotel is close to the market. And has two great restaurants owned by the same family. Don't eat breakfast at the hotel walk to the market lots cheaper and a lot better. hotel has been updated has a nice pool, rooms are nice and clean. The only problem we had was on thursday night a group of young people came and ran up and down the halls slaming doors knocking on doors all night. Called the front desk they came up to check it out said, they were from MEPS young people going to the airforce base for training. That call didn't help could hear the kids next door playing cards at 4 in the morning. So first thing I will do when I go back to San Antonio is ask hotel about MEPS if they take these young people I will stay somewhere else.

Booked this room through priceline 68.00 plus tax and fees total 87.11.
Booked in the 2.5 star class because that is all I could get for the amount of money I was willing to bid. I must say the hotel was nice and clean.
We didn't get to check in until about 5:15pm. We got to the hotel about 11:00am initially and they said check at 3:00pm no way they would be able to do an early check in. So we came back at 4:15 and had to wait until 5:00pm, so we wondered over to the Make shift bar they had open (because the real bar isn't finished yet) and ordered a drink, which was complimentary after we complained about having to wait so long for our room. (however we did have to ask for a complimentary cocktail)
The service at this hotel was exceptional as far as the personality of the staff. The lady in the bar area was extremely pleasant as was even the manager of the Hotel.
Someone from the Hotel gave us a Van ride to our evening destination when we went outside to get a cab.
When we asked about the room wait, my partner jokingly asked if someone had quit, and the manager remarked that no one had quit, but due to the size of the hotel, and everyone checking out the housekeepers were unable to keep up that is why we had to wait.
We were not the only ones that had to wait there were about 10 people mingling the lobby waiting to get the room. I found this a bit strange, I have stayed at many hotels and really I have never had this happen before. Although I don't normally stay at a holiday in or a 2.5 star hotel.
I tried calling for room service at about 6:00pm and no answer for over 30 minutes including no answer at the front desk. One of the phone lines kept disconnecting me in the room. Finally I gave up.
The hotel was clean, and the staff very nice, under construction still. I might stay here again if I got a low enough price. Since it was fresh and new.

Overall, an ok hotel- renovations underway but they are been well done and the amenities and location is good.
HOWEVER, one member of satff on the Reception desk was extremely rude on 2 occasions and this managed to overshadow my trip. It was extremely upsetting especially as I always thought service in the US was good.
