It is a small and only hotel based in downtown livermore. The hotel has good size rooms, it is a economy hotel so you cannot expect the Ritz Carlton. I paid $60/- for a king size bed and i've to tell you that i really got a good night sleep. The beds are very comfortable, and they also have microwaves and fridges in the room which makes things a bit easier for a bachelor like me when staying there for a few days.
The folks who run the hotel are real nice and everytime i need some thing they are eager to help. They do have a pool but it was too cold to be using in the december.
In all the hotel is a nice property and i will stay there again and recommend it to other people as well.
One star, maybe. Sincere, but lots of problems.

Now, I understand this is a budget property. It was $54 for one night, including tax. However, for a property advertised as 2 or 3 stars, one expects at least marginal competence. No such luck.
1) The "non-smoking room" was disgustingly smoking. There was no "nonsmoking room" indicator on the door, only a "thank you for not smoking" sign on a table in the room. This leads me to believe they gave us a smoking room because they had no nonsmoking rooms left. The coverlet, in particular, reeked of smoke. Even a decently cleaned coverlet would not have had this problem, which calls the cleanliness of the whole property into question.
2) While this is an older property, so some bumps and bruises are to be expected, the shower had mold around it.
3) As I took a shower at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, the hotel maintenance man TURNED THE WATER OFF. Not lost pressure, not cold, but off. As in, hair full of shampoo, NO WATER. One would think that hotel staff would understand that 9:30 a.m. is a likely time people will be taking showers on a weekend morning 1-1/2 hours before checkout.
Of course, there was no "continental breakfast" as advertised, either.
Good points: our room was decently quiet, though oddly laid out. There was a microwave and mini-fridge, something one might not find in a higher end property. The air conditioning was nice and cold.
Now, this *was* a budget property, but seriously, the smoke problem, the cleanliness problems and the idiocy of turning off the water at a time a lot of people may be showering? This property doesn't even deserve 2 stars.
