This hotel was great! It was the most reasonably priced of the 3 star hotels. It was a short walk from the Old Port, the bay, Longfellow House, Portland Mansion, many restaurants and shops. The hotel has a fitness center and pool which are both open until 11 PM. The elevators are quick and the front desk clerks are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable.

Was in town for a family trip and reserved 3 rooms. Rooms were all clean though the decor was dated. That being said, rooms were comfy and served their purpose. The hotel is located near the old port where all the nightlife is but its about a 2 - 3 block walk. Everything worthwhile in town is walking distance but there are other hotels closer to the action. And again, the hotel overall appears a bit dated and in need of some renovations but the cleanliness factor makes up for this.

This is my 2nd review of this hotel. We stayed there exactly a year ago.
If anything, the service got better. We found everyone of the staff pleasant and helpful.
Hotel is in walking distance of downtown and the harbor. We, however, availed ourselves of the shuttle services which we took to dinner and back both nights. The employees driving the shuttle were wonderful and provided interesting info about Portland.
Room was very clean.....furnishings are a bit outdated but hey this is a Holiday Inn. We had breakfast both mornings and the food was fine.
Good value for the $$.

I thought all Holiday Inns have complimentary breakfast but this inn does not have it. They only have weak coffee and water. The welcome from the desk was not polite, more business than welcome. In the morning the maids were very loud in the hallways - they were yelling at one end of the hallways to each other asking for more supplies in their carts. The pool was nice but a little cool than the room and the sauna has not direction or information how to use it so we missed out heat. The internet is slow but conventient. The breakfast was good but $$. The walking distances is about 4 long blocks from any attraction of the stores in portland.

After reading the reviews for this hotel I felt safe staying for a two night stopover. We (two single females) arriving at midnight to find the hotel parking deck was completely full. After patiently waiting to be greeted by the front desk, we were informed that we would have to park a block over in a deserted parking lot and walk back to the hotel. The hotel shuttle was parked in the front but no one asked if they could assist us with our luggage,or transportation back to the hotel after we parked the car. Once we arrived at our room we knew we had made a big mistake. The room smelled horrible and the room was outdated with visible patch work done throughout. We woke early to get out of the room and to see Portland for the first time. We checked the front, but found no concierge to help with directions and when I asked the front desk they seemed put out by my inquiry. I found this hotel to be lacking in professionalism, friendliness, courtesy and cleaniness.
I can't say enough good things about the dining experiences I had while in Portland.A great local place and super nice staff was Becky's.Great blueberry pancakes! Gilbert's had great chowder.Fore St restaurant was quality from the hostess to the server to the incredible meal.A definite must to do in Portland. We
did find a great local Irish Pub down the street from the hotel,Brian Boru it helped us forget about the Holiday Inn.
