Stayed there in Easter and almost the whole of Puebla was fully booked. As we were travelling with a child, we did not want to research a hotel room when on arrival of town. So we booked two nights. We found out the reason why this hotel had free rooms. Apart from the location and the public areas, our opinion is that there is nothing worth being appraised about this property. Most rooms (if not all) are located in a contemporay building attached to the marvellous colonial original building. There was no architectural concern on how to incorporate the modern building. The result is an ugly mix. Room was small and smelly. The staff were unhelpful and far from being polite. And, above all, it was way overpriced. We stayed there the first night and managed to get a free room in the Marriott, which is a bit far from downtown and too resort-y for our taste, but mcuh cheaper and very good-value-for-money. Strongly advise not to stay there. There are much better alternatives in Puebla, cheaper or about the same value.

I have stayed in Holiday Inn wherever possible when I travel. However, the Holiday Inn Centro Historical at Puebla is, the first one that I stayed, which does not have a safe and mini-bar in the rooms. This is not the standard Holiday Inn Hotel that I know. Quite disappointed and will try Royalty Hotel which is located right within Zocalo the next time I visit Puebla.

My friend and I stayed for one night after working in the country for 4 weeks. The hotel was nice, room was extremely neat and had a wonderful shower! The hotel is extremely convenient for shopping and everything you need to do near the zocalo.

A very comfortable room! Clean! Helpful front desk personnel. A great location a block from the Zocalo.
Only one thing marred my visit: my iPod Nano 'disappeared' while I was out. Front Desk looked embarrassed when I brought this to their attention but did nothing.
Pleasant dining room. Good value.

I had a great weekend in Puebla staying at the Holiday Inn in the Zocalo area.
The building is beautiful and in a perfect location for walking around the tourist area of Puebla.
I had a couple of issues with staff, but they could be resolved by talking to the front desk.
First, they closed the pool in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday, and only put up a small inconspicuous sign. So I called the front desk to check if it was really closed, and the front desk said no. So I went back to the pool where I was met by a very rude hotel employee who told me the pool was closed, pointing at the small sign like I was an idiot. The door to the patio was wide open, the gate around the pool was unlatched, and the front desk said it was open, but I'm an idiot for not believing the small sign. Then he followed me back to my room to make sure I wasn't going to go back.
The next day, I asked for a late check out and was given it without question. But I came back from the pool (which was finally open) just after normal checkout time, and my key was disabled. So I had to go down to the lobby in my wet bathing suit and bare feet.
Finally, I kept my blinds closed and the AC on low whenever I left the room, and everytime I came back, the blilnds were open and the AC was off. I started putting a "don not disturb" tag on the door.
But the rooms were clean and modern, and the front desk was as helpful as possible.
And while I was out front woting for a taxi, some other tourists walked by and poked their heads in the front door and said "Wow!"
