I read the reviews prior to staying at this hotel but I must say that it was much better than what the reviews are stating. The front desk staff was wonderful and extremely helpful. I had a newly renovated room and there were no problems with any of the utilities. I was there on vacation and my experience was great. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the area.

Brief overview: Gas was turned off, no hot water! TV did not work in any rooms, was told by the front desk that the owner did not pay the bill. Bar was closed. Was told that the property lost it's liquor licence. Pool was closed. Rooms dirty when checked in. The place looked worn out. Personal in the hotel (and understandably) acted as though the hotel will be shut down soon, and some even suggested so. Unable to make an outside call. Now I know what a bad hotel looks like!

I've been to this Holiday Inn several times before and each time it appears to get a little more tired. It is time they did an update. The decor is old, outdated and drab.

You always get what you pay for applies here. We were in Pittsburgh for the weekend and I was really scared after reading the scathing reviews of this Holiday Inn. Yes, they are doing a renovation and I am sure that accounts for the dirty carpets, dust, etc. We were put in a room without a view (gotta love getting those cheap Priceline rooms!) but had been newly renovated except for the bedspreads. Nice decor, nice carpet, nice bathroom. Even a nice little black bug in my bed. I noticed there was quite a bit of remodeling dirt behind the bed and bureau, and desk. The shower drain was a little slow draining but mine at home does the same sometime, so no big deal. We spent very little time here other than to sleep. Would have liked to sit out by the pool to relax the first night after our long drive but it was locked and there were no other places to sit outside and no real lobby so to speak. Did not have a lot of interaction with the staff as I said, we were not there a lot.
Would I stay there again? Probably not, even for the great price I got. I just never felt clean or safe.
Priceline has this as a 3 star hotel, but I would say at this point, honestly 2 stars would be generous, in my opinion.

To start most of the staff was GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dustin,Smity, and some others.
Need to get rid of the man from matentince. And Housekeeping
Sorry so long but it is worth it,
I am not sure where to start. My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Central (Greentree) Pittsburgh Friday April 18th for two nights. Checking in was find. Dustin checked us in and he was great(he is going to school for hospitality who ever gets him will be lucky). I wanted a newly renovated room and he took us to see one and we took it. Well once we checked in we were'nt to sure about the room so we went to the front desk and asked to see another room Dustin took us once again. We stayed in the first room. THIS where all the Problems strted. The chair was dirty from the renovation and the air conditioner was a mess
and we had a burnt out light bulb and the cloth rack was coming out of the wall. Dustin said he would send someone up. Well matinence came up well he needs to go. He changed the light bulb I asked him about the dirt and the rack. Well the dirt was not his job and the rack coming out of the wall was the painters ffault not his. (HE NEVER DID FIX IT) he very rudley told us to find another room if that was possible. So I said fine. He left I took a wash cloth and cleaned the air conditoner adn the chair. The rag was gross when I got done so I threw it on the bathroom floor. And then we left to go to the lounge. SMITY was the bartender if you go make sure you stop in HE WAS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Well I went back to our room and the door was propped open with the dead bolt. I went back to the lounge to get my husband to check the room. No one was in there or around. I was very upset I have never had that happen before. I did tell tell the front desk and the manager but they had no idea who it was. And we still do not know. So on Saturday we left and went it to Pittsburgh when we came back we were locked out of our room. Not reall y a big deal. Went to the front desk and got our keys reactivated. Went into the room and all they did for housekeeping was make the bed. they did not take the garbage out or give us clean towel THEY TOOK THE DIRTY TOWELS THAT WE THREW ON THE FLOOR AND HUNG THEM BACK UP.Well that was another trip to the manager. Well they sent someone up to clean up and he did a great job.
I feel bad for the front desk and the workers that care about there jobs. Because of the people who do not the hotel is getting a bad rap and will keep getting one until the CLEAN things up.If it was not for the houskeeping and matentince our stay would have been great. I stay in alot of hotels and have never had these kinds of problems. I can not believe that they would leave a guests room open for anyone to go into. Even if they had to go get something you always lock the room back up. And then to hang up our drity towels for us to use over. If this place wants to stay open they need to change.
