OK - this is a big hotel with huge conference areas, but it feels different than other 'bed factories'. For example there is a very nice and modern restaurant - its decoration is earthy and warm colours and features big images of the German Alps - yet it is modern, really different. The lobby bar is inviting and also has a relaxed area for dining - they serve some interesting variations of local Bavarian food there. The rooms are clean, functional and like you would expect for such a hotel - try and get a city view room, that's really a nice view -especially in the evenings. I liked the hotel and will certainly go back there.

My husband and I booked a two night stay at the Holiday Inn Munich City Centre as we were going to a concert at the Olympic Stadium but wanted to enjoy a couple of days in the beautiful city of Munich as well. The hotel is pretty much what you would expect from a Holiday Inn, an average, clean hotel designed for both tourists and business people. However, we were very disappointed to discover just how far from the city centre this hotel is ! It was a 15 minute walk to reach the city walls and then another 10 minutes walk to reach Marienplatz (the central square) - This is not a city centre hotel ! It is only a 5 minute walk to a u-bahn (metro) station so most places are easily accessible by train. We didn't use the hotel restaurant / bar or other facilities so can't comment on these. There is a 24 hour petrol station next door for late night drinks and snacks without paying hotel prices. I loved Munich so will certainly return to the city but I would look for a 'real' city centre hotel next time.

Great little hotel at a good location in Munich. *** Exit S-bahn train at Rosenheimer Platz. *** There is a sort of underground shopping tunnel that goes all the way from the station through to the hotel, even though its about 2-3 blocks from the station. There is a sign pointing in the direction of the hotel inside the station, but we didn't see it until our very last day there of course! *** Close enough to everything to keep us busy, but nice and quiet - - - Power conservation restrictions here: you have to insert your room key into a slot in order to turn the power on in the room. This means you can't charge your camera battery if you aren't in there!
