We stayed at the Holiday Inn, Mankato in September 2007. We have stayed here before, but that was 19 years ago, on our wedding night!
It is a nice hotel. It is clean and well run. My only real complaint is that there were not enough electrical outlets for todays traveler. The desk area had only one extra outlet, which is not nearly enough for a laptop, two cell phone rechargers, and camera battery recharger. (We had to use the bathroom outlets) The electric outlet by the desk was also somewhat damaged. It was not secure in the wall, so that when you plugged something in, it moved. This caused me to worry about an electrical short. We encountered no "real" electrical problems though, and overall we had an enjoyable stay. The guest washer and dryer were older, but worked just fine. Parking was convenient and easy. This is a very nice hotel, but some updating to todays electrical needs would make it even better.

I selected this hotel based on other traveler reviews and was disappointed. It's an older Holiday Inn and is in need of an update. While there was nothing actually wrong with the hotel - and it wasn't dirty or smelly, the cardinal sins of hotels in my opinion - the carpets were worn and stained, the walls were banged up and the bathroom was dated. In addition, my room faced the central meeting space, and the noise from an event setup continued until 11:00 at night and began again before 8:00 in the morning.

I was looking for a comfortable, 2-day getaway from the "Cities" with a nice poolside room that would allow a kitty - this place was perfect!
The pool area and whirlpool are very nice.
The parking ramp was free and easily accessible from the hotel. Nice fitness center. I arrived early and the front desk person was very accommodating.
Only thing missing was a free continental breakfast area.

Nice pool/game room/workout room area...Sunday brunch was okay but definitely overpriced. We went on Mother's Day and it was very busy. We waited a long time and after the inital drink order we were never asked for drinks again. Kind of a disappointment as far as the restaurant, but the hotel was fine. Surrounding area has some fun places, Buffalo Wild Wings, lots of bars, an Irish restaurant, some little shops, etc.

Great pool/whirlpool area with a large size area around the pool for parties and groups to get together.
Rooms are basic Holiday Inn with decent beds and hotel included good cable television along with free wireless. Checkin staff was quick and polite and checked for availablity of an extra room and came up with a room when they were probably officially sold out. Nice.
Breakfast bar is good and restaurant staff efficient and quick.
Good location right in downtown Mankato, MN
