I arrived late, after 2200, and politely asked the girl at reception 'may I have a queen sized bed.'
She referred unsmilingly to my wotif.com booking at the 'special mystery rate' of A$140 and said 'you've booked a twin...hotel is full.'
The bed was acceptable and I slept well, but although the hotel was refurbished fairly recently, it continues to show its pokey 1960 origins with a small bathroom being an obvious example.
I breakfasted elsewhere, but again received perfunctory 'service' when checking out.
Regrettably, some Australian hotels need to realise they are in the 'hospitality' sector.

I booked this hotel on wotif.com for $140. Walked to the hotel via pathway then took the shuttle back for $2 each the next morning. Very quiet. Staff very welcoming and friendly from front desk to restaurant to cleaning staff, everyone was warm and friendly withour fail. Breakfast buffet was excellent for this price range. There was a fresh juicing machine, homemade meusli, fresh fruit, variety of breads and pastries. We didn't have the cooked so cannot comment on that. Very convenient and well priced and comfortable bed.

Rooms were tiny, bathroom dirty and needed a bottle of bleach.
Resturant was awful, reception area was having construction work done.
Only stayed the one night as we had an early flight the next morning, went to resturant for Tea on a sunday night. And it needed a good clean. There were paper sheets on top of the tables which were ok ( just dont lift us the paper sheet as table cloth was dirty under neat) bottle of water and glasses that were bought out had some sort of brown muck on the side of it. Husband ordered the battered fish, and almost choked on a bone told the waitress, and her response 'oh did you think it would have no bones?'
Will not stay here again, and will go across to the hilton.

Stayed here for one night Jun 08 when our flight from Avalon to Sydney was cancelled at last moment.
Nice, clean hotel - we had 3 rooms and all had 2 double beds, writing desk, armchair, bathroom and mini-kitchen.
Under circumstances (i.e 300 angry tired airline passengers) staff were extremely efficient and pleasant.
Did not get time to sample buffet breakfast but looked good.
McDonalds and airport 5min walk from hotel - would recommend for people who need to be close to airport (city 40mins away)

I have stayed here several times as its very handy for early flights.
This is the first time I have been given an end room and I found it very small compared to the normal rooms in the hotel.
Overall clean and well maintained.
