I only stayed overnight on my way to visit relatives in central FL. Having stayed in several chain hotels for both business and pleasure, the was one of the best to date. The room was large and well appointed. Bathroom was huge and stocked with toiletries from the Body Shop. The free wifi worked easily and well, and the front desk staff very pleasant. I only wish I could have stayed longer!

I had the pleasure of being in town for business in February. I was referred by the client that I was in town to see. I was really looking for a property near to them, but wanted a Ritz Carlton. I have to thank the persistant assistant at my client for singing the Holiday Inn Lakewood Ranch praise's. This was a fabulous hotel in a great location. I was also pleasantly surprised when I had Dinner in their resturant, the Alamo Steakhouse Grill. My meal was excellant and service was superior. I strongly advise anyone needing to be in Sarasota for business or pleasure, to stay at this hotel and experience the Alamo!

This is one of the nices Holiday Inns I have ever stayed at. The room was big, clean and well stocked. The walk in shower is great, the bathrooms are nice. the internet works well and the room was clean.
The restaurant - The Alamo - provided good room service but it was a bit strange. I ordered room service 3 times and everytime I placed an order they sounded surprised that the item was even on the menu! They were friendly enough and it was pretty fast. Some minor details were missing tho - like I they missed an orange juice, forgot salt and pepper shakers, and gave me a full salad instead of a small...but the food was good and they were accommodating.
The one other issue I had was with the employee at the front desk who checked me in. I requested a high floor on my reservation and when I checked in. The truck driver in front of me without a reservation was put on the top (5th) floor. I reiterated my request and was given a 3rd floor room. When I asked if there was anything higher avaialble, the employee said "it's on the 3rd floor!?!?" as if that should be good enough...and begrudgenly got me into my room on the 4th floor. He was obviously annoyed at having to swipe the key again..enough so that my key expired the next day and I had to trek all the way back down to the desk to get it renewed. It was pretty annyoying.
Despite the problems with the front desk at check in, the hotel is really nice. I would stay there again and would recommend it.

The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly, but disadvantage number one of this hotel in our opinion is the total absence of decent breakfast facilities. O.k., you can have breakfast in the Alamo restaurant attached to the hotel, but this place lacks atmosphere and the breakfast is not value for money. It puzzled us that there was no complimentary breakfast, as most other hotels in this price range are able to offer. Disadvantage number two is the bed.
All persons in our party weigh around 60 kilos, so we are not exactly heavyweights, but we found the beds small and very hard. Every morning we felt stiff and tired. Furthermore the kitchen amenities are minimal. Only a very small fridge and a microwave without any cuttlery, plates and bowles. This was our first stay in a Holiday Inn and I must say that I am not impressed.
