I spent three nights here on business and on checking in noticed the hotel charges a ?50 fee if you leave early, never a good sign. The standard rate is ?155 a night which is a total rip off for a hotel with no leisure facilities and in such a poor location.
On the plus side the staff were all nice- very friendly and helpful, although one member of staff informed me when I asked for coffee at breakfast that she wasn't allowed to serve me coffee. The room was OK, the bathroom fine with good water pressure. There was no shower cap and the shower sprayed everywhere so despite the notices suggesting visitors shower instead of bathing, I had to bath to avoid getting everything (including my hair) wet.
On the down side the location is awful, I felt trapped as I had travelled on public transport and there didn't seem to be a bus service to the area. Festival Park is noisey, there are no proper restaurants there, just fast food/junk food places. The hotel itself is ugly, there are no leisure facilities. It seems aimed at the lazy, anyone attempting to use the stairs rather than the lift is faces with dirty and grim service staircases.
I have to return to Basildon and I will be looking for somewhere else to stay.

I stay in this hotel three - four times per year. It has changed a lot since my last visit in June this year. It looks much cleaner and the staff attitude and service has changed for the better. The whole place has a friendly welcoming feel about it. Restaurant selection and decor need some improvement. Keep up the good work!

I stayed for one night for business at this hotel. We chose it as it had business facilities which we needed for preparations for meetings with a customer.
The room (103) was a double, and was clean, but was small and cramped. The bathroom was also miniscule and the shower seemed to emit water at all angles, so soaking the floor even with the curtain in place. Generally the hotel felt run down in the public areas with scratched and marked walls in the corridors and chipped and marked doors. The ceilings are very low which gives a claustrophobic feeling.
The breakfast was expensive at £15.
The staff were generally pleasant and helpful.
The hotel is on Festival Park which does have a number of restaurants, but is a long way from the town centre.
Overall, an OK hotel, but only for a short business stay.

Stayed at this hotel on 16 June. Phoned the hotel to request early check in 2 days prior to arrival and was told to phone on the day. Phoned on the day to say that we were going to be there around 12.45, we were told that the rooms would take around half an hour to clean and should be ready by 12.45.
We got there just before 12.45 and were told that the room was vacated at 12.15 and it would take 30 mins to clean. I told the receptionist that we had already phoned twice to request early check in and got what I would call rude response, she certainly did not know the meaning of customer service! We were told that check in was 2pm and shouldn’t expect to check in early even if we had requested it...hmmm... We expected to wait 30 mins max for the room...but at 13.30 ONE HOUR later we were still waiting, I mean how dirty could the room have been! At this point my boyfriend went to express his dissatisfaction with their service & had to explain again what we had requested only then after a couple of phone calls were we given the keys to our room... We had a lunch appointment at 2pm and since we only got into the room at 13.45 and still had to get ready we were late. What made me even angrier is that when we got to our room the cleaner was rushing out!!
Only good thing was that the exec room we booked was clean and modern, bathroom was in good condition, towels were a good size and water pressure in shower was great.
Location is perfect if you want to experience chavtastic Bas Vegas and is close to A127 and A13. Would recommend The Quays for a relaxing lunch by the lake. Not really in walking distance to the town centre, but you aren’t missing much apart from the big Primark! Even though this not that close to the clubs be warned that on a Friday and Saturday night you will sometimes be able to hear people coming out of the clubs & the boy racers. We could hear this as we were on the 4th Floor and facing the front of the hotel.
So if you want to check in early be warned you may not be able to due to lack of good customer service & communication and there maybe some noise on Friday and Sat nights, however the exec rooms are fine.

Hotel is fine the room decor clean and modern, and good breakfast. It's located in a kind of recreational park with cinema, and chain restaurants a few km out of Basildon itself (that's probably a good think if you've ever been there!). Basically ycould have been staying anywhere, not the location if you are looking for culture and atmosphere or a romantic break it's a bit 'all aboard for chav town'. The Hotel in itself is quite good and has good facilites so can't complain there.
