I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times over the last few months and I’m quite happy to return when in the area on business. The hotel is on the edge of the small village of Tong, approx 3 miles from the M62. The reception staff are friendly, helpful and professional. The interior carpets, fixtures and furnishings are of a good quality and the general public areas are well maintained and clean. The room are of a high standard of comfort and cleanliness.
On my last visit I ate from the bar menu for the first time and was very disappointed with the slow service and the quality of the food. The menu is limited and I chose the old pub favourite “Battered fish with chips”, the fish had probably been in a freezer longer than it had live in the sea! Considering there is a fantastic public house “The Greyhound” with extremely good food 5 minutes walk into the centre of the village, I would have thought the hotel would attempt to compete on some level. I expect the hotel guess that most hotel guests wouldn’t know about the pub. Certainly next time I stay at the hotel I will be dinning at The Greyhound again.
The breakfast is OK, but the sausage is of a particular poor quality, once again straight from freezer to fryer I imagine. I always think you can tell the quality of the kitchen by the quality of the sausage! I must mention the coffee machine, which is one of the most fantastic pieces of kit I’ve seen.
This hotel is an ideal stay over for business or long romantic weekends, the hotel is situated in its own well kept gardens and ground, which again are situated next to fields and open views, considering the village of Tong is only 6 miles from the centre of Leeds.

Mixed feelings about the hotel - mainly good but the bar area could be better

We stayed 1 night here during a recent trip to Leeds
Generally the hotel was good, and was very clean, in a surprisingly rural spot given it is only about 4 miles from Bradford and not much further into Leeds
The staff were friendly, our room was a good size with a settee and table as well as a very comfortable king size bed. The breakfast we had, whilst having slightly less choice than some bigger Holiday Inns, was good, and served in a very clean restaurant overlooking the garden. There are several outdoor seating areas within the grounds which must be nice in better weather. There is a large car park which is free of charge.
Our one issue with the place would be, as mentioned by another reviewer, that when functions are taking place, the bar is small and very busy, with few tables to sit at
The hotel had thoughtfully given us rooms at the other end of the hotel from the bar, as there was a live band on until around 11.30pm - this wasnt a problem for us as we like to turn in quite late, but for those needing sleep, we could hear the (admittedly muffled) sounds of the band from the other end of the hotel
Doubtless on non function nights the bar is more than adequate, and our impression of the place overall was good
We would probably stay again but would think about when we went and check where the room was if functions were on

I stayed at this hotel with my family for a long weekend break. The hotel was absolutely fantastic, the staff were very helpful, cheery and couldn't do enough for us. Our room was very spacious and couldn't fault the cleanliness. The restaurant was very nice and overlooks the hotel gardens which were very pretty and well maintained, the food was really good too. All in all we could not fault this hotel at all, we found it great value for money with the most hospitable staff we have ever encountered.
This hotel is a perfect weekend retreat for a couple or family, I will definately be staying here agian when in Leeds on business, as the money I will save in car parking charges for a city centre hotel can be spent on a taxi to and from the hotel, as we were in the city centre within minutes.

This hotel does not fit the usual mold of Holiday Inn. It is an older building previously operated by Marriott. Visitors should be aware that much confusion exists with taxi drivers and others in the area as the former Leeds/Bradford Holiday Inn was several miles away close to the airport. The only thing that has changed is the branding, rooms are smaller than the average Holiday Inn and the hotel is less well appointed. Our particular visit was nothing short of a disaster. On arrival we could hardly get into reception for the members of not 1 but 3 wedding parties (bet those brides felt special) who were in the doorway enjoying a 'fag break.' The consequence of this hotel taking 3 weddings on one day was that whilst the wedding parties clearly enjoyed themselves - unruly children et al running around at 3am. Those whom the hotel had charged £120 per night B&B got third rate service at best. The breakfast was the worst I have ever experienced in any hotel, the food quality appalling, the staff badly trained - and don't try and get near the bar - they only have one small bar area and guess what, the wedding parties have the run of that. Oh dear oh dear - how I regret Holiday Inn Brighouse being full - try that one if you can, it is at the opposite end of the scale if this visit is anything to go by.
