I stayed at The Holiday Inn, Garforth for one night in early April 2008. It was very handy for a family function.
The rooms and service and food were lovely but the room was a bit small. The room rates were very expensive for what they were I thought.
The swimming pool is extremely small so don't come expecting an international sized pool. It resembles a large jacuzzi in size!
I found the room rates cheaper booking directly with the hotel rather than through any 'last minute' type websites.

We stayed at this hotel for a few days when visiting family. The room we were allocated was quite small, well very small actually so I paid for an upgrade to a slightly larger executive room. The hotel facilities are OK and it's in a quiet location on the outskirts of Leeds. The food was good as was the bar service but there was one problem that really annoyed us. There was a strong 'fatty' cooking smell in the restaraunt and reception at breakfast. So strong it stuck on our clothes all day...not very attractive. We resorted to going to breakfast in old clothes and then changing before going out. We recently went back in there one morning for a coffee and the smell was still there so it seems to be a 'morning' problem as it wasn't apparent during the evenings. Shame really, I would have liked to remember this hotel for something more positive.

Stayed with a group of business colleagues and on every front, this hotel failed. It used to be a Hilton Hotel when it offered very good service - things have gone massively downhill since then.
There was no smile from receptionist who clearly didn't want to be at work - the corridors and room very tired - room very small and cold with dirty shower curtain.
Dinner was dreadful - inedible noodles, cold steak, tasteless sauces and when we informed the waitress she did nothing about it. earlier, we had complained that the restaurant was cold and we were promised the duty manager would assist - but no duty manager came. We complained again and eventually a small fan heater was brought in - totally inadequate.
Worse was to come - after a cold night with little sleep, there was no hot water so had to make do with a cold shower.
The receptionist (same one who had checked us in) was disinterested in our complaints and I had to insist on seeing a duty manager. The duty manager was sympathetic and pleasant but she only had authority to offer a £20 refund. Rooms here are £120 without breakfast - it's time this Hotel closed or at least placed under new ownership/management who can be bothered to sort out the mess which a previously very good hotel has now become.

I have stayed at this hotel for the past six weeks whilst working on the outskirts of Leeds. The hotel is excellently located for my needs as I only have to travel down the M1 southbound one junction to be at my place of work. However it is not very well located to get into the center of Leeds unless by taxi (if you do not want to drive into the city center).
Garforth has a train station, and trains run regularly into the city center but the station is a good sturdy twenty minute walk.
A walk into Garforth will take about 10 to 15 minutes, and there are a selection of good pubs and restaurants.
Now. . . Back to the hotel. Check in can be busy and slow in the early evening so be prepared to see queues. In fact reception only ever seems to have two staff working at any one time at check in, check out or any other period. Basically the hotel does not provide the correct staffing level for the volumes of customer demands at peak periods. You can ask for a "Breakfast Check Out" to beat the check out queues whilst eating breakfast, however when I asked for this two weeks ago the service (once again) was not provided and I ended up in the queue with everyone else.
All Holiday Inn hotels I stay at advertise and promote the benefits of intercontinental Priority Club membership. Unfortunately this hotel DOES NOT provide all the benefits associated with platinum status, and the hotel is prone to cherry picking what benefits it will supply. I have been told quite firmly that "this hotel does not provide free room upgrades for platinum members, regardless of availability at check in" and does not provide "a free daily newspaper of the platinum guests choice". The only free newspapers provided are the two choices that are put out in the public areas of the hotel in huge volumes for anybody who cares to take one (including people who do not stay at the hotel).
The food in the restaurant can be described as "hit or miss". On occasions I have had excellent meals and on other occasions I have had to return my food to the kitchen as it has either been served cold, undercooked or I have been served a dish that I did not order. The service in the restaurant and in the bar area is also hit or miss.
The hotel offers an excellent gym and pool, however the corridor adjacent to the leisure facilities, and the guest rooms in the immediate vicinity somehow always seem to smell of sweaty socks.
The rooms are very clean and tidy, some can be small with very little room to get into or out of the beds. Some are large and always appear to be very cold. Be prepared for a long walk to the rooms situated at the far ends of the corridors.
