In dire need of updating

When the Embassy Suites are booked up, you take what you can get in Lubbock, and when you want to stay close to Texas Tech and Jones Stadium the Holiday Inn (and "Towers"??) is about as logical as anything else. However, this hotel is in dire need of renovations and updating. The room has dank, musty smelling carpet. Bathtub had rust scars all around. Even the lampshades had pieces chipped away - just the general appearance of disrepair and neglect. Most hotels are updating their beds, but this one has not - still a rock-hard mattress and goose feather pillows.
Right next to the Buddy Holly Plaza, if that does anything for you. The hotel itself could stand some major updating.

Our stay in Lubbock was very disappointing. While we were out of the room on our 3rd day there our laptop computer was stolen from the room by the hotel's maid. We know it was the maid because she gave her two week's notice that same afternoon and has not come back to work since.
I have been very disappointed with the way the hotel management has handled the situation. Even though the crime was committed by one of their own employees the management has never contacted us or done anything to work with the police to recover our stolen property.
In addition to the crime there were several other problems with the hotel. The swimming pool was very dirty. A domestic disturbance occurred Monday night on our floor and no one from the hotel responded. In addition, outside doors around the hotel which were suppose to be room key entry only were never locked and anyone could come in.
Don't stay at this hotel. In my opinion it is not safe.

My stay was horrible. I had problems from the beginning when they told me the credit card from hotwire had declined and I would need to find a new payment for my hotel. I ended up paying cash. Once I got into the room the TV did not work and I had to change rooms at 11:00 at night. Then while I was
sleeping the security guard let himself into my room and stood over me. It was horrible. I complained to the front desk and nothing was done. I don't recommend but if you do stay there make sure your not a young female staying by yourself.

I was at a loss for a night's stay while driving through Lubbock. As I drove through town I saw this hotel and pulled in. They look like they've gone through some remodeling so it may have changed since some of the previous reviews. I found it to be above average and quiet. I had no problems sleeping through the night. As a lone female I felt safe in this hotel. I stayed here again on the way back.
