Breakfast was great, room was large, clean, modern, staff was friendly. Very close to the city-center, but some noice from the busy road and the club at the other side of the road...

We stayed here for four nights when visiting Hasselt with friends for their joint anniversary and a 60th birthday. They had said that Hasselt was great and that the hotel was the best one to stay in. We agreed and have already started to plan our next visit.

We are frequent travelers to Belgium and are trying new cities. For our first trip to Hasselt for a beer festival (which was wonderful!), we booked the Holiday Inn as suggested by most who had traveled to this city. Although we ususally choose smaller hotels in the heart of cities, we took the advice of other travelers. We found an American-style hotel with top notch service, helpful staff, imaculatly clean rooms, nice bathroom, super breakfast and centrally located to the suprisingly great shopping district downtown. We extended our stay by 2 nights to further explore this great area. Note that weekend rates are far less than during the week; we didn't realize this so paid much more than we thought we would. The bus station and train station are a 10-15 minute pretty walk to the hotel and allow you to easily and cheaply explore eastern Belgium. The people of Hasselt are helpful and friendly, making Hasselt a recommended option for discovering more of Belgium outside the big cities.

I've booked this hotel for 2 nights during the pukkelpop festival.even though all hotels seemed to be full, I managed to get a room through a travelagency which had exactly one room left. and at a very very good price aswell, we payed 100 euro a night for a twinroom.
the location is right in the centre of Hasselt. upon arrival they couldn't find my reservation so there was mild panick. the girl behind the desk who wasn't too friendly looked at me accusing and said I must be in the wrong hotel. even though I had the vouchers from the travel agency that cleary said we had reservations for this hotel. eventually she found out that the hotel was strangely enough booked under my friend's name in their system, eventhough I booked it under my name. never mind that mistake, but I did mind the accusing look I got.
she also wasn't too pleased that I requested a twinroom and not a double. apparantly it's strange for a woman to travel with a man that's not her partner and not willing to share a bed with.
when we asked her how to get to the festival she wasn't very helpfull either, she said we should just ask the drivers that transported the artists (a lot of artists stayed at this hotel during the festival) if we could drive with them. that didn't sound so good to me, so I thought we would figure out how to get there ourselves. thankfully an hour later there was a different receptionist who was helpfull and ordered us a taxi.
the room was surprisingly spacious. it had 2 double beds, a table with chairs , a closet and a desk, and there was still room to walk! we had a room on the corner of the front of the hotel on the fourth floor. the problem was that if you opened the window there was a lot of noise from the road outside, and the room would be filled with petrol fumes. but because it was sooooo hot in the room, we really needed to open it. even though the beds where extremely comfortable, we didn't sleep much because we had to chose between either the horrible heat, or noise and petrol fumes.
I was very very pleased with the bathroom, it was very spacious and it had bathtub, which I always concider as my treat cause I don't have one at home.
overall the room was big, clean and the beds where comfortable.
breakfast was ok. can't remember much about it, except for the mini pastries they had that I really enjoyed.
all in all I would recommend this hotel. but they should turn the heating of in august!
