I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Guatemala on many occasions. This trip was for a special event; my Grand-mothers 100th birthday and my daughters 15th (Quinceanera). The event was held at the Camino Real Hotel which is a half block away. We had family members from all over the states come in and we all stayed at the Holiday Inn. The service by all the staff is rivaled by no one as it is the best! I have been staying at the Holiday Inn for about 3 years now during the trips that I make to Guatemala (3 to 4 times per year) I have never had a negative experience during any of my stays and look forward to my next trip in November 2008. I highly reccomend this inn to anyone.
Best of luck and good travelling

The rooms are clean and the hotel is conveniently located in Zona 10. There are a few issues: no complementary water in the room and part of the breakfast buffet is off limits unless you pay extra. Generally, not a horrible experience, but there are probably better options in Guatemala city. Beds are nice, so overall an average rating from me.

I stayed here on a long weekend in Guatemala City. It's located in Zona 10 (aka Zona Viva). It's the central business/nightlife district and is very safe. The rooms and hotel seem fairly recently updated. Bedding was comfortable. Bathroom was pretty nice with large stone tiles covering the bath/shower. TV in room has English and Spanish channels.
Breakfast buffet was good (included in my rate) with standard American fare available along with plantanos y frijoles (fried plantain bananas and beans).
Overall the Holiday Inn Guatemala City has everything I would expect from a higher end Holiday Inn.
Hotel has shuttle that runs back and forth from the airport every 30 minutes (4a to 4p). It's free and very convenient.
Next door is a good Guatemalan restaurant called Casa Chapina. On the opposite corner, on the level below the street, is a bar called Shakespeare’s Pub. The owner is American and everyone there speaks English.
A Nice Place to Stay Right in hte Middle of Zone 10

The Holiday Inn is located just a block off the main drag of Zone 10. The rooms are moderate size and decently appointed with the standard amenities. The restaurant is nothing to brag about but there is a good restaurant next door and a better one across the street. The staff is generally polite and helpful although their command of English is not always that good. The only issues I had were that a couple of nights during my three week stay they forgot to clean, and there were long waits at the elevator and front desk on certain occassions. Otherwise a great alternative to the higher priced hotels only a block away.
