I just returned from a quick trip to Denver and was a little apprehensive about staying at a hotel that wasn't rated very highly on a travel website I saw. However, the staff was very friendly, the room was neat, clean and spacious, and I enjoyed the "bed and breakfast" special whereby I received a $10 coupon for each breakfast I had in the restaurant. My room was supposed to have a king sized bed, but it was a queen. The quiet location and spaciousness of the room definitely made up for that. If you sign up with Holiday Inn for their Priority Club (free to sign up), you get other benefits that non-club members do not get. For example, I got a coupon for one free drink or dessert, and a plate of nachos with salsa per day.
The food in the restaurant was good, especially the fresh fruit and vegetables. I didn't like the paper on top of the table cloths, but that was just minor. The room service menu has a lot more menu items than the restaurant menu, however, there is an 18% room service charge.
They were just paving the parking lot and painting new lines on it when I arrived, so upon leaving, it all looked very good. I thought the Mapquest directions were a bit confusing and it would've been better to have taken Exit 274, rather than 273. A Safeway grocery store was only a few blocks away, and it only took about 10-15 minutes to get downtown.
Although older, it was still quite a nice stay at this hotel.

I don't remember it being this bad when we stayed there 3 years ago, but this time it was definitely substandard. Requests are treated with indifference; when we sat down in the restaurant, a waitress came over and took our order and disappeared. A half hour later, we were watching food being served to a gentleman who had walked in less than 10 minutes before, so we asked that waitress if she could tell us how long it would be until we were served our food. She actually shrugged and walked off. About 10 minutes later, another waitress brought us the nachos from our order, which were cold as though they had been sitting on a counter. We were so disgusted by that point that we left. I explained the situation to the front desk, and then to the manager of the restaurant; we got an apology, but that was about it. Later, I had to argue about movie charges to my room that we did not order, and got a lecture. We also witnessed a couple of arrests and a fight participant from the bar being loaded into an ambulance. I didn't see any bed bugs, but overall, I would definitely NOT recommend this particular Holiday Inn to anyone I know.

We were worried about staying here after reading the review about bed bugs, but by that stage our reservation was akready made. However, we had the complete opposite experience at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, giving directions and helpful tips. Our room was on the third floor and was quite large and clean. There is a guest laundry area and free internet access on the ground floor. Although they don't offer a free breakfast, you can dine at their own restaurant. however being a family of four on a budget, we walked across the street to the village inn. The best thing about this hotel is the free shuttle service. We couldn't praise it enough. They picked us up at the dollar car rental return at the airport (approx 21miles away!) and took us into downtown denver the next morning. They also offered to take us and pick us up at any restaurant. The drivers were very friendly as well. Super hotel, definately worth staying at!

We arrived after midnight with tired children, and just wanting to turn in for the night.
Even though we had booked our reservations more than one week prior to our visit, and as priority club members, the front desk clerk did not have our registration cards ready. When he finally got keys for us (about 25 minutes later), I noticed that he only checked us into one room when we had confirmed two rooms. Another 20 minutes later, we were ready to go to our rooms, but had to ask for a general direction, as he did not tell us what floor, what entrance, etc.
The elevator was not working, so we trekked up two flights of stairs, myself, personally loaded down with overnight bags, and a 3 year old child.
When we reached the room, I, for some unknown reason, flipped the pillow over before laying the baby down, and received the most disgusting surprise of my life.
BUGS-HUNDREDS OF BED BUGS-NASTY ******HUGE****** BED BUGS!!!
As we left, the hotel, I made sure to report this to the front desk clerk, who never even bothered to look up from his magazine. His response to the issue at hand, was "Uh huh", and "Uh- ok".
NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!

When you walk into the lobby of this hotel, you think, "hey this is pretty nice," as it is decorated very well. The hotel rooms themselves are average at best, everything just seems old. The location is terrible (overlooks I-25) and is in an industrial area of town. The restaurant/bar is dark and depressing (at least they have one, I guess). The saving grace is the free wireless Internet access.
