Stayed the 4th of July
Guest name: PoolGoddess, Pennsylvania
We stayed three nights, July 3,4,5,2008 and positives: the room was spacious, we had a King bed, check in and out service was quick, excellent maid, great location near downtown and close to local tourist attractions, safe location,we were able to see the fireworks from our room, sliding glass door windows, the indoor pool, exercise room, soda machines, coin laundry were all beside one another., 4 HBO channels, we paid $48.00 using Priceline.negatives: older hotel, under construction, small, but adequate bathroom, small indoor pool, 3 to 5 feet, needed some work, mostly for small children. We would stay here again.
Good choice

Stayed here for a night while visiting Charlottesville/Jamestown. Didn't spend much time in the room except for showering and sleeping. Good internet access and convenient location!

This semed to be an older property. There were a few steps leading up to the lobby.....luggage wheels won't be much help to you there.
Our room on the top floor was clean, updated and more than adequate. No problems with our room itself, but the walls separating us from other rooms were thin. Sound traveled easily from one room to another. This can be a real problem if your neighbors aren't quiet.

Okay, now this hotel is quite interesting.
Rooms are okay, make sure to get a room that faces the back unless you want to hear sirens from 29 and traffic.
The hotel restaurant is deplorable "First Place Grille" is more like Last Place Grille".
The hotel staff are acceptable but nothing to write home about.
If you have rooms on certain parts of the hotel you have to access your rooms from the outside.
One housekeeper called it "The Dungeon".
Pool/Fitness center are on the 2nd floor and is small and a lot of chorline.

My wife and I stayed in the Holiday Inn in Charlottesville, VA during a visit to see our son at UVA. The rooms are nicely appointed however they are not sound-proof. The first night we noticed that we could hear the TV, radio, and regular speech/talking of our next store neighbors.
On the second night we were awakened at 1:00 AM by a large and unruly party in the room next door. We complained to hotel management in person because the front desk would not answer the telephone. We followed-up with 4 telephone calls to the night manager. The party continued to 2:30 AM and was broken up by the Charlottesville Police. Hotel management took over 1 1/2 hours to respond to our multiple complaints.
We desired a place to sleep and did not get it. We asked for a refund and were given one night for free.
We will not stay at this property again.
