The common areas of the main building and gardens were very attractive which are made up of the old train station. The hotel is comprised of three separate dated buildings each with a pool. The Holiday Inn room buildings were in poor condition, the pools were dirty and the bathroom was not cleaned well having hair in variuos areas from previous guests. Given the rate $150 for one nights stay we were very dissapointed with this property. We arrived late in the evening with a reservation and we considered looking for a new hotel at 9PM but decided that the hassel would be too great so we spent one night. We did not get much concern from the desk manager when we report the conditions. I would suggest that Holiday Inn pull their name from this property.

We went through hotwire to book this hotel, so we did not know until after we purchased it that this was the hotel we had selected. It had three stars....really makes me wonder what they are basing the star rating on. The rooms are old and have a strong mold smell. The hotel accepts pets which is a good thing, if you are going to keep the rooms clean of pet dander, scents, etc. There was also a strong pet odor in the hallways. The hotel is worn down. From the outside it looks more like a youth hostel than a three star hotel. It was overpriced for the quality of the room. Parking was far from the rooms (not good for people with small children and lots of stuff to carry). Decor is outdated. Bathrooms were a bit rusty and our toilet ran most of the night.
This could be a really cool place if the owner's gave it some care. To the hotel's credit, even though the room was old and outdated, it was clean. The sheets were clean and crisp and the beds were comfortable. However, when you have the constant scent of mold, it makes you feel as if your surroundings are dirty, no matter how clean it actually is. Just a little paint, drywall, new carpet, and new decor could totally turn this place around.
There was some sort of a dog show while we were there. Dogs were in cages in the parking lot. (Not being abused or anything, I think it is called "crating", they were all happy and we played with some of them) There were also dogs in the rooms above us that kept barking all night. This hopefully is the ONLY reason we kept smelling pet odor. If you can get this room for about $45-$70/night, it is a good deal. Otherwise, go elsewhere.
Overall, this hotel could do much better. Especially if they are going to carry the Holiday Inn name.

When you first walk in the lobby, literally the first thing you are hit with is mold. (unless its meal time then smell the food will cover it up some what.) But we were optimistic and moved forward to our room which we walked into the building and immediatley stopped this place hasn't been updated since late 60's early 70's and at the prices they are charging... nevermind we will get to that, we decided to still move forward and overlook the building was not air conditioned, so was hot and made the mold and fouls stink problems even worse, we get to our roon and it only got worse, foul stink.. mold ,carpet that I would be afraid to even walk in my socks in.. we immediatley turned around and got a full refund with no hassles, so obviously they are used to this reaction. I was livid, I understand that its "nostolgic" but not at the price of my families health. I was horrified that this has the "Holiday Inn" name attactched to it... I have stayed in WAY nicer Motel 6's & 8's than this place. We went down the road and for the EXACT SAME MONEY stayed at the Sheraton.
BEWARE of the Choo Choo.. IF mold and filth doesnt scare you.. Enjoy!
Don't waste your money

While I don't expect luxury from Holiday Inn, this hotel was very disappointing. For $140/night I thought it would be a decent place to spend a couple days off. So very wrong. The room was dirty, bed uncomfotable, table and chairs were essentially patio furniture, shower never got hot, killed 3 bugs. There is a musty smell throughout. I had to walk through a indoor pool area to get to my room, and the heat / humidity was horrible. Attempted to change rooms without success. All staff was very pleasant, but it seems that management knows people will come here for the historical appeal, therefore they have no need to invest money in renovating the hotel part of this complex.
