Stayed over easter 2008, hotel booked through a package deal with Brittany ferries. From the motorway follow signs for Caen centre, then look for the signs to the praire (racecourse),hotel is at the city centre end of the course.
Found the staff to be friendly, breakfast could have been better but was just about sufficient. Had one evening meal at the hotel which was pretty good.
Room was clean with a separate door from the room to a small hallway to access the bathroom and the landing door.
Digital heating control which was very efficient and needed due to the cold weather.
Plenty of street parking outside the hotel or in the near vicinity, pay during the day free at night and on Sunday.
Score the hotel about 7out of 10.for its class

We arrived late into Caen from sightseeing down at Mont St Michel and the first hotel we saw coming into the city was the Holiday Inn. Decided to stop there and although it was slightly more costly than the other hotels we had stayed at that week it was in a way a welcome relief.
Hotel has standard north american style bathrooms with SHOWER CURTAINS (something not found at all hotels in France) and a nice bright bathroom. Also has normal beds.
Location wise it wasn't too bad, close to the city center, within walking distance of the churches and castle (although we drove). Parking is street parking and you must pay during the day.
Hotel tried ripping us off for internet though. They have an internet computer in the lobby and apparently charge 30 euro cents a minute. The billilng appears to be estimated by the front desk and they wanted to charge us 40 euro dollars for our time spent on it. (although we weren't originally told it had a fee to use). Be wary of that. Otherwise not a bad place.

Although this was a bit of a walk from the train station (cab recommended), we found this hotel to be centrally located and generally comfortable. After we'd spent a week in French-owned smaller hotels, we welcomed the large and light lobby and more-American room amenities. The large, well-lit bathroom was newer and clean, the bed was comfortable and the front-desk staff was friendly and helpful. The hallways seemed overly worn and in need of updating, and although the room was without AC, we flung open a window to bring in a nice evening breeze. Good value for the money.
