Holiday inn - Birmingham airport, is a typically but above average airport hotel.
90% of the travellers/guests is naturally one-nighters, which cause a lot of "traffic".
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are ok - but get a superior room if a good sleep is needed.
The bar and resturant is good and lively, so complaints there (maybe its because I stayed during the Champions League Final)

Strange, but true. This is a lot nicer than many airport hotels.

Airport hotels can be a bit of a drag. After all, they have a "captive" audience. What makes this place better are the staff.
Reception and room servicing staff are really friendly.
The hotel is in good order and the rooms are up to a reasonable standard of decor. Room heating/cooling is a little eccentric.
If I have a gripe, it would be about the breakfast facility. If anything, it seems to be run for the convenience of the staff and not for the benefit of the guests. Fried eggs like fossils (one always has to ask for freshly cooked), butter pats like icebergs, confused staff. Could do better here.
Overall, above average for an Airport hotel. Great location by the A45 on the route into B'ham.
I've stayed 3 times now & I will return.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn, Birmingham Airport for one night after flying in to the nearby airport.
I arrived at the hotel quite late after a delayed flight, the checking in was fine, I was given vague directions to my room. When I found my room unfortunately I had been given a smoking room, even after requesting a non smoking room when booking. I was given a replacement room without too much trouble.
My room was clean and tidy, the bathroom was quite shabby, in contrast to the rest of the room. My main concern was my allocation of room, it was located on the bottom floor and the deadlock did not appear to work as a female travelling on my own this concerned me. When I asked why my room had been moved from the second floor before I arrived I was told it was because that wing had not been cleaned.
All in all the room was fine just a few minor problems.
Breakfast was disappointing, hardly any selection for the continental breakfast, hard bread for the toaster and instant coffee! For 7.50 it was expensive and not worth the money. As solihull town centre is only a few miles away I would recommend you save your money and head in to town!

Just returned from 2 nights at this Hotel while visiting The Good Food Show at the NEC. Stayed 2 years ago and found that the bedrooms were some of the most comfortable I have every staying in. This year there has been losts of alterations to the public rooms which now compromise a very nice bar area and dining room. We had dinner included on the first night and can safely say that this was a lovely meal. Food well seasoned and very tasty, have dined in may good restaurants and this was very good.
The bedrooms were again very comfortable, bathroom on the compact side, but nice al the same.
A very good Hotel and value for money, would not hesitate to return in the furture.

My Friend and I stayed here for one night as we were attending the good food show in the NEC in Birmingham. The room was very clean and above average. We paid £139 for the two of us for bed and breakfast. When we returned from the show we went into the bar for a bar snack. The service was slow, however the waiter who served us was very pleasant. The food was very bland and not that appetising. When the waiter asked me if I enjoyed my meal, I said no I didnt. he was very attentive and arrived back to me with the general manager. I explained to him that although it was late (About ten) the food was not very nice, he listened to what I had to say and said that we would not be charged for it. He said that if people do not let them know if something is wrong, they can not fix it.
He also said that his management team were aware of poor reports on trip advisor and that they were doing their best to give excellent service to the customers. The breakfast the next morning was very good, there was a great selection of fresh fruit prepared in bowls and a cooked breakfast. Overall I would not be put off by the poor bar food as I really do think they are trying and the hotel is very clean.
