The hotel is located right on the blue line (light rail), so that is a big plus from the start. Remodeling is done except for the entry plaza, and they have done a good job with it. Shower is nice, although a three-headed setup, like the Hard Rock in Biloxi, would have been even better. Single king room is small, but I had no problem with the size. Heard no outside noise at all. Bed is really comfortable. Only negative is the TV--a plasma, but no hi-def signal. Hopefully they will correct this. Definitely would stay there again.

Truly a wonderful stay. Very convenient in downtown Charlotte.
First of all, to the "Soccermom" who gave them a poor rating... seriously? All because they don't have a bathtub? If you need a bathtub, go to Comfort Inn. The hotel has beautiful tiled STANDUP showers.
Rooms very comfortable. The breakfast buffet ($17.00) is well worth the money. Includes a ton of fresh fruit, biscuits and gravy, grits, omelettes, fruit, smoked salmon, aqua panna, san pelligrino, gourmet coffee, in a nice atmosphere.
The gym "looks" very nice, but it was closed when I stayed. It is a gym that is part of the hotel so it's subject to its own hours. Hence today is 4th of July and it's closed. :(
Highly recommended.

We decided to stay in Downtown Charlotte because I got a great deal on Priceline.com. We always try to stay in Hiltons or Marriott hotels and luckily the Hilton accepted my offer.
The outside of the hotel is still being renovated but the rooms appear to be complete. When we arrived at the hotel there was no valet or bellhop to greet us. So, we grabbed a cart and my husband did the self parking option. The lobby of the hotel is beautiful and the clerks were efficient and friendly. When we got to our rooms we were very pleased. The beds were very nice with lots of pillows. The TV is huge, however to my daughter's dismay they didn't have Disney or Nickelodeon. But, they had a good variety of channels. The bathroom is really nice. The counter is marble with good lighting, the shower is huge (there is no bathtub). They carry Crabtree and Evelyn products (which I love).
We did eat breakfast in the hotel. They have a beautiful restaurant on the 4th floor that offers a breakfast buffet for $17 for adults and $8.95 for kids under 9. But, they are very accomodating and didn't charge us as much as they were supposed to because our kids didn't eat that much. The buffet included freshly squeezed OJ along with smoked salmon, omelette station, bottled water, sausage gravy and biscuits, etc. Everything was wonderful.
Overall, this is an absolutely lovely hotel and I would definitely stay here again (especially at the price I paid).

The Hilton Charlotte City Center is the best hotel in the city and first-class all the way. This is my third stay (first in a few years) and both the room and the restaurant have gone through a great renovation.
The entrance is a bit deceiving with just the check-in desk and bell station. However, just up the stairs is the main part of the hotel with access to the restaurant, elevators, store and opens up to the large Wachovia tower in the rear.
The rooms are among the best I have seen at a Hilton or Marriott type hotel. Modern feel, especially the bathroom with a state-of-the-art sink (my kids were even impressed) and shower. New large HD TV (with HD channels) and comfortable beds made this a great experience. Very clean.
The restaurant called Coastal Kitchen offered a great breakfast buffet (best in the Hilton chain that I have had) and a few weeks prior had a terrific lunch there while passing through.
As a Hilton Gold member, my wife got complimentary access to the onsite YMCA.
Self-parking was easy and the staff was great throughout.
The Hilton is a few blocks from the main action of Tryon Street but is the best of the hotels I have stayed at including the Omni, Marriott, Westin and Dunhill.
