This was our 2nd stay at the Hilton in Shreveport within the last month and I've got to say, it is our new favorite hotel in Shreveport. We have stayed at all the casino hotels and most all of the nicer hotels/motels in the area surrounding the downtown Shreveport/Bossier City area over the last several years. My wife and I are poker players (Texas Hold'em) and make frequent trips over to the Horseshoe casino to play cards. We've stayed a ton of different hotels/motels.
The Hilton is less than a year old and still looks brand spanking new. The first thing you will notice is the very helpful valet/bell boy staff waiting outside when you drive up. If you don't need their services, they won't bug you, but if you want them, they are right there. They are all very friendly and willing to help. Checkin/checkout is a breeze and the staff is very pleasant. The employees there must like their jobs and be paid well because they have great attitudes compared to some of the employees in some other nearby hotels.
The rooms are very nice, not huge, but big enough and the views are great. There is a small fridge which is nice and the free wireless internet is a big plus. The beds are comfortable and the 37" flat screen TVs are great. Surprisingly to us the bathrooms are a bit small. Nothing major, but they definitely don't compare to the over sized bathrooms the casinos hotels spoil you with. Again nothing wrong with the bathrooms, but they are just pretty standard.
One big plus for the Hilton is their free shuttle. They will take you pretty much anywhere in town, as long as they have time. If they are really busy on a weekend taking people to casinos they would really prefer to stay in the "casino district" area and I don't blame them. We always tip $1-$2 per person and the driver is always appreciative. The shuttle is a huge money saver considering most cabs are charging $8-$12 for the same trip.
If there is any downfall to the hotel it might be it's location being just SLIGHTLY too far from the two nearby casinos. (Sam's Town and Eldorado). It's definitely not too far to walk for an energetic person, but it's a good....4.5 long blocks or so. Also, it's probably not 100% advisable to make the walk late at night. We've done it and felt safe the whole way but I can see where it wouldn't be a good idea. But it's nice being close enough that it' is walkable and the shuttle/cab ride down to that area is very close.
Oh one negative: parking is $3 in and $3 out in the parking garage. They do have an open air lot which is just as close and they don't seem to lower the parking gates that make you pay. However, I've found if you don't use the parking garage (or valet) they will charge you for one in and one out in the open air lot. When I asked why I was charged to park since I never entered the garage they said..."oh didn' t you park in the parking lot outside??" Well yes I did....but they didn't know that, they just knew I didn't park in the garage or valet. No big deal at all though.
Lastly, the pool on the 12th floor is nice. Pretty small, not alot of room and not a big pool, but it's very nice and better than nothing. There is also an indoor hottub area which looks nice from what I've seen. My wife enjoys the pool but it's hard to get away from the noise if there are many people and/or families in or around the pool but it's no big deal.
Basically, if you are looking for a very nice, new hotel with a good location and great staff this is the place to check out.

The hotel itself is very new and beautiful. The public areas are clean and well kept. The rooms are very new and modern, flat screen TVs, free wireless internet etc. Great AC and very good soundproofing. Parked across the street in covered garage for $3 per day with no problems at all (lots of parking) with in and out priviledges using room key to get in and out. Front desk personnel very cold and borderline rude when checking in and later asking for directions. Room key stopped working after 2 days on a 3 night stay. Rekeyed at front desk with no apology. Maid knocked on door each morning with "do not disturb" sign on door to ask if checking out that day. Overall, very nice facility, not bad location but service needs to be improved quite a bit before being recommended.

We spent two days during the Mudbug Festival at the hotel. That's right I did say the Mudbug Festival. smile.... Although the hotel has nothing to do with the festival I thought that it was interesting that the festival was the highlight for the town.
We found the hotel to be very clean and up to date. We will definitely be staying again when we return in July. The staff was quite friendly and the shuttle took us and picked us up from the other hotels which was fantastic! Customer service there is a bit different than what we were use to, everyone is quite laid back, but of course this is Louisiana and the whole state is laid back. Shuttle drivers talked on their cell phones making plans for the evening and other personal type talk, as they shuttled us from one place to the other. We didn't mind them talking as long as we arrived safely to our destination.
My one pet peave about the shuttle was that the 90% of the drivers didn't even open the door for you to get in or out of the van. I figured if they didn't make any efforts why give them a tip, since the hotel was supplying the shuttle. For those drivers that did go the extra mile, we tipped them well.
We had the breakfast buffet downstairs, which we thought was less than adequate. The pancakes were absolutely HORRIBLE!!!! Of course pancakes are my favorite breakfast item and I don't expect them to be dry and hard. The buffet was limited so don't expect the same type of buffet like you would get at the hotel casinos.
We called down for towels waited 45 minutes and then left the room. The next morning we complained to the front desk and someone did bring them up to us. We never used the towels but at that point it was futile.
Although we did encounter a few service issues overall the hotel was more than fine and we would stay again.

At first blush, this look like a beautiful Hotel that would be a nice place to stay in. When I made the reservation (directly), I was treated wonderfully. Unfortunatel when I got to the hotel, things changed. The staff, first of all are mostly indefferent to guests. As a group they don't seem to care much whether you have a good stay or not.
On top of that, Management is apparently scrimping on amenities to save a few bucks: 1) The valet and bellman are the same person so expect to wait for someone to park your car as they are probably delivering bags. 2) The restaurant has limited hours. While the Hotel literature says it is open from 6:30 till 10:00 it isn't opened continuously. And when the restaurant closed at 10:00 so does the kitchen so there is no food to be had after 10:00.
When the restaurant is open don't expect good service and be careful what you order. At dinner the spaghetti sauce was terrible and at breakfast my smoothie was put under the warming lights to melt before I retrieved it myself. It is possible my breakfast waitress was over extended as management probably figured having too many restaurant staff was a waste of money.
If you want a nice place to look at this is a fine Hotel. If on the other hand you want some service with your $200 room, go elsewhere.
