Priceline selected the Hilton for us (accepted our bid) but we were very pleased with the hotel. Loved the art deco and hotel has been very well preserved. We were on 18th floor facing north and could see a corner of the fountain square ... but the room was very clean and sufficient bathroom also ... just ignored the roof of the building in front of us.
The location of this hotel is great. Right out the door to the square and loads of good restaurants. Super close to the ballpark. We did not use the gym but the facilities and swimming pool looked nice. We parked at the $1 posted lot just across the street - but was $15 for the day ... but you expect that in a city.
The staff at the Hilton were very friendly and the restaurant/bar off the lobby were just gorgeous. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

Ok, so I must be really high maintenance because I can't believe this hotel has the #2 rating in town. I travel every week for business and stay at many different hotels from Marriott (Platinum), to Hyatt (Gold) to Hilton (Gold) hotel chains and this one is on my “never again” list. It is dark, dingy, paint caked on the walls and not very appealing….the hallway kind of reminded me of the hotel from “The Shinning.” I figured because it was historic it would have a few squeaks and creaks but I was seriously considering checking out and going across the river to the Marriott.
It just seems like everything is really, really old and outdated – wallpaper, paint, carpet, furniture, etc. I am sure it is clean but it almost makes it seem like it is not. A hotel can be old, charming and “updated”. It reminded me of my grandma’s house when we use to visit, comfortable but smelled like moth balls. This isn’t my favorite hotel in the area.
I have a Jr. Suite which is nice because it has a sitting area and bedroom so there are no complaints about size, it just is not what I expected for $225+ per night.
If you want upscale, bright, appealing and well kept this isn’t the place.

After booking on Priceline we called ahead to the hotel with a room request for two beds on upper floor, understanding there is no guarantee of availability.
Upon arrival once the desk clerk ascertained it was an"internet booking" she said they could not accomodate our preferences. In fact all they had available was a queen size bed on the 3rd floor (next to a banquet facililty) and lets just move along now.....
Upon learning we were Hilton Honors members the whole attitude changed and we were ushered to our lovely 26th floor room with the two Queen beds and a nice view of the river. From that point on our stay was delightful.

We stayed there four nights during a convention (rate was $130 per night plus tax), staying on the 9th floor. Hotel is in Carew Tower, a classic art deco building and one of the tallest in the city. Rooms were huge and luxurious, and included phone (local calls 75c), T-card Internet access ($10 per day), full bath, and 20 channel TV. Hotel had gym room, lap pool, but no free breakfast -- although many restaurants are nearby. Parking is $17 per day, but cheaper rates are readily available in either on street or at nearby lots. In particular, the hotel is across from a lot that charges a mere $1 for any segment of two hours or less.
Hotel is one block from Fountain Square, three blocks from the Underground Railroad Museum, and connected to Cincy Skywalk.
Staff was quite welcoming and helpful, although (1) one day the room did not get cleaned till 6:30 pm and (2) staff did not know where to find a florist that was still in business. TV checkout made that process literally a matter of seconds.

Very nice property. The room was a good size and well appointed. Very comfortable bed. I booked on the hotel website and the web rate required room selection at check in. We ended up a room on the end of the building, and it had a couch and two chairs- so it may have actually been a small suite- I don't know. The bathroom was indeed small, as other posters have mentioned. It wasn't the "spa" style that many hotels are going to, but it had all the amenities.
The property itself is a historic landmark. You can pick up a guide at the concierge desk describing the history of the building- it's quite interesting.
Since it is a nice, downtown property the dining is expensive. However, there are plenty of choices within walking distance.
Parking is valet for $21 per day, but, there are plenty of public garages nearyby. There is a nice secure one under the Macy's directly across the street from the hotel. $15 per day, but beware- you must pay in cash.
The hotel is within easy walking distance of the ballparks and downtown attractions.
