We have just returned from a week long stay at the Hilton. We have stayed at this resort before and have loved it. It was not the same 4 star resort as before. I will share some of the things that I did love first. My family did love the beach and the pool. The grounds of the resort were nice. This would be the only things we loved. The negative items were the air did not work in our room. We kept asking about the air and were told this was the best they could do. I mean our room was hot all the time!! The ice machine did not work on our floor. I made several complaints about the ice machine and was told each time they would write up a complaint. It was never fixed, We heard from others that none of the ice machines worked in the other building. The service elevator was out which I dont mind sharing the elevator with the staff but they monoploized it with their big carts so there was never any room for guest. I had read that complaint from another guest who stayed their in June so that let me know the elevator situaion had not been taken care of in a month. The lights on the elevator telling what floor you were on did not work either so you never knew which floor you were opening up on until the doors opened and you peeked out. The other problems were that their was no air in the room that served the continental breakfast. The juices and milks were always luke waer at best. It was so hot in there you could not stand to sit in there. We ended up skipping going down to eat. We were not told that they were doing renovations at the time we booked or at the time we arrived. we asked for turn down service at night they usually showed up around 10:00 p.m. by the end of the week they just knocked on the door and asked us if we needed towels, They didnt even bother to come in to do the beds. In the morning the staff would make up the king size bed but never bothered on most days to do te couch that we had to make up for the kids. This was not the 4 star hilton we were used to being at. The best I would give this would be a 2 star. I would be generous at giving it that.

We stayed at Hilton Oceanfront resort for the 4rth July weekend. We did not have an oceanview room, but that did not spoil the fun. We were told its an island view, which turned out to be parking view :-) So something to consider when you are told its an island view. The room was very clean and nicely done. We looked forward to returning back to our room at the end of the day. Resort had a nice swimming pool and 2 whirlpool hot tubs. Food at the Pametto cafe was ok. In the evenings they had live music outdoors, which we enjoyed as it was not too loud as other places. We enjoyed the fact that this resort was right on the beach. We felt very safe walking on the beach at night time.
You could rent 2 bikes at the resort from 12-3pm for just $20. We realised this after we rented bikes from outside. This is a good deal if you need bikes for just one day. Weekly rentals are obviously better outside. We did ask about the biking rentals at the front desk, and no one mentioned that the resort had a deal like this.
Also, you get free appetizer at catch22 restuarant if you show the resort key. This is something that the concierge didnt tell us, even after he knew thats where we were going for dinner and wanted to print online coupons for this place. Print out is paid, so we never ended up getting any discount. It was only after returning back to our room, that we saw this as we were going through the discount books.
The resort charged us $8 parking daily against the $6 I read on the forum or on their site. Being a busy weekend, it was hard to find parking too. But overall a nice resort. We only wished that staff was more aware and forthcoming about the deals and events happening at their own resort.

We just returned from a 7 night stay at the Oceanfront Resort on Hilton Head. The property itself is very nice. Big standard rooms, with a refigerator and microwave inside. We had a nice little table to eat at in the room. The bathrooms were big and clean, with a sink both inside and outside. We also had a large balcony. Two decent pools, one for adults only. There was a walk up bar at the pool, which served very reasonably priced food, and had several outside tv's. The beach was very nice too, with clean sand and some minor waves. Overall, the physical hotel was everything that my family of 4 needed, and we were very happy with.
Now, for the other part of the vacation experience. The service throught our whole stay can be described in one word - HORRIBLE. From the moment that we checked in, when they told us that we had a courtyard view, which turned out to be a parking lot view. That could only be remedied if I agreed to spend 5 nights in one room, then switch over to a different room. THAT'S a fun thing to do with a family of 4 while on vacation.
That issue finally gets resolved, we think that smooth days are ahead of us. First day, we come back to our room at 5:30 pm, to find out that the maid hadn't arrived yet. She shows up just as I'm calling housekeeping - now, do we want to leave the room for 30 minutes, or just take some clean towels. Welcome to the Hilton Head Hilton!!!
Other things that you don't expect from a decent resort:
- ice makers that don't work
- renting an umbrella and chairs for the beach, and dragging them there yourself
- free Continental breakfast vouchers (Hilton Diamond), but only for two. I've stayed at over 20 Hilton's and I've never had a turn in a voucher for a lousy, lousy, lousy cold breakfast. Sometimes they ask for the vouchers, some days they don't.
- no wait staff or any type of supervision at the pool
They do nothing for you no matter how many times the service staff inconviences you. The most I ever received was a very half hearted "Sorry".
In summary, this is a nice location and facility, you just can't expect to be treated nicely by the staff at this hotel.

I recently stayed at the Hilton for 4 nights and overall had a great time. The hotel is well located on the island in the Palmetto Dunes complex. The rooms are very large, recently renovated, and include a kitchenette. There are 2 pools (one for families which is packed with children and one for adults only). There is ample seating around the pools and on the boardwalk facing the beach. The grounds are well maintained with beautiful landscaping.
My complaints: 1. I booked an ocean view room and ended up with a parking lot/obstructed ocean view room. I complained to the front desk as soon as we arrived in the room and was told the hotel was fully occupied and I could not be moved. The next day I went back to the front desk to complain again. The woman working at the desk actually admitted it was "misleading" to call these rooms ocean view when they in fact were partial. Later that day I was moved to the courtyard/pool/ocean view side and was much happier. I would recommend a garden view room when booking to avoid paying extra for a parking lot view. 2. You have to pay extra to get chairs on the beach. 3. Not enough shade around the pools on hot days.
I did not eat at the hotel. They recently opened a steak/seafood restaurant.

Have stayed here for years. We have a meeting here about every other year. First , the good:
1. Centrally located in Palmeto dunes.
2. On the beach
3. Decent restaurant
4. Re doing the main restaurant into HH Prime..steaks and such
4. Market on site
5. Rooms recently renovated
Now what I personally didn't like
1. This used to be a quiet, boutique hotel. Now, they've ramped up the bar, speakers outside. Any rooms facing the courtyard, be prepared to hear shrill singing and eardrum blowing bass till 12AM and longer. If you've got kids, trust me, you ain't getting any sleep till it stops.
2. Along the same lines, the rooms are accessed via outside walkways. Concrete. When inconsiderate people get back to their rooms, many of them allow the doors to SLAM shut. And I mean SLAM. Again, when the redneck bar closes, the rednecks slump back to their rooms, slurring and shrieking in their drunken stupors and make a point to SLAM the doors shut. I thought a plane had hit the building a few times.
3. Parking...very haphazard. Lines drawn in all different directions around the trees. Good luck not getting a ding in your car doors.
Maybe I'm just getting too old, but I want QUIET after midnight. Go to DAYTONA if you want to get puking drunk and out of control.
