Room needed vacuming as did hall so switched rooms. Second room suffered from being close to the (noisy) Coke machine. Third room ok but wall paper hanging off the wall in the bathroom gave a slighlly tattered look to the room. Free shuttle to the airport nice. Front desk staff helpful. Close to the Capitol,. the walk along the river, and the downtown restaurants. A good choice for business travellers. Rental car not needed.

I spent a weekend at the Harrisburg Hilton and had a nice time with no problems. I thought my room was a pretty good size and was clean. The hotel caters to business travelers with free Wi-Fi and mini-refrigerator in the room. Although the fixtures may have been dated, the bathroom was clean. The only negative thing about the room was that the wallpaper was old and needs to be replaced as it's starting to peel away from the wall, especially where it meets the ceiling
There are a couple restaurants in the hotel. I recommend Raspberries for the Sunday brunch, but you should make a reservation. Outside the hotel, there more restaurants and bars down 2nd street, but some of them are not open for lunch. However, at night, there is alot of activity in the area.
The hotel also has a small, but nice fitness center with a lap pool.
There isn't really much to do in the area of the hotel during the day, especially on the weekends. I suggest visiting Hershey's Chocolate World, which is about 15 minutes away. There is a small outlet mall there right next door to the park.
I was happy with the hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again.

We stayed (family of 3) here traveling from Baltimore to enjoy New Years Eve in downtown Harrisburg. The city does a nice job of making this a family event. This hotel is above average in most areas and excellent in a few.
First the negatives. The rooms are a little tired and worn. The furniture is well worn and used. I would guess they will be changed in the next one to two years. The swimming pool had NO towels to use. This property has several pluses. First the hotel and rooms are very clean and comfortable. The pool was warm and clean. The exercise room is top notch in terms of variety of equipment, all which was in working order and clean.
The mattresses are comfortable. The food in both restaurants was expensive, but excellent taste, presentation and portions. The staff was well above average, infact they are excellent! Every staff member we worked with was nice, helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay here and will return. I would like the hotel to freshen up their rooms with furniture thats not so beat up. This is a nice place to stay.

We stayed at this hotel for a convention so we did get a cheaper rate. The $102/night was well worth it. We had the most comfortable beds and pillows. Room temp was fine and our room was spotless. Front desk and the lady in group sales who we made our reservations w/ were wonderful. We requested a late check out due to the ending time of convention and were given that w/ out any problems. However, be aware- if you do have a late checkout (and I verified 2 different times that it was noted in the computer), the room keys automatically stop working at 1pm. We were in a hurry and we were rushing back to our room just to find out that we were locked out. However, a quick call to the front desk, brought a bellman w/ a new key to us in 3 minutes. Also, the food/restaurant is extremely expensive so you may want to check out other restaurants in the area before hand.

Stayed at the Hilton Harrisburg for one night in july 2007.
The hotel was a pleasant surpirse after reading many of the reviews on this site. The room was clean and spacious, if a bit oddly laid out. Bedding and bathroom were both very nice. Furniture/fixtures could use a bit of an update, everything seemed a bit old, but completley acceptable. Location is outstanding, right near a bunch of restaurants and bars in Harrisburg's entertainment district and only a few blocks from the train station. Check-in was easy, if not overly warm. The lobby bar was a nice place for a nightcap and their was a jazz band playing out on the deck.
All in all, I think the Hilton Harrisburg is a fine choice if you are in the area and would definitely stay here again.
