My husband and I stayed one night at the Homewood Suites just north of Santa Fe. What a lovely hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, our room was upgraded upon arrival (much to our surprise), the beds extremely comfortable, rooms spotlessly clean, and breakfast delicious. There is a beautiful golf course, Towa, on the property and in August 2008 Buffalo Thunder Casino will be open as well. We considered staying near the plaza in downtown Santa Fe, but I'm really happy we chose to stay out of the city and the crowds. The drive to the Homewood Suites is very easy and if you were staying there for more than one night and going back in to Santa Fe to tour, it would not be any hardship. We attended the Santa Fe Opera and the Homewood Suites is a perfect place to stay. The opera doesn't start until 9, so after the final act, you just hop on the highway and in less than 10 minutes you are back at your room. I would highly recommend this area to anyone looking for a mini-vacation!

My wife and I just returned from a great trip to Sante Fe. We choose the Homewood Suites largely due to the reviews here on Trip Advisor. This hotel is located about 10-12 minutes North of Sante Fe which makes it a perfect location to visit other NM areas (e.g., Taos). It is also only 5 miles from the infamous outdoor Sante Fe opera which was also a wonderful experience!
Anyway, this hotel was perfect. A great suite, friendly staff and a very quite location (the resort being built next door is ready to open next month so there is NO construction noise or problems). Our room overlooked the golf course and the suite itself was wonderful. Very clean and efficient (BTW, I travel extensively on business so I am very fussy when it comes to hotels).
You can't go wrong with this hotel, especially if you want to stay out of the crowded and noisy downtown area of Sante Fe. What could be better than being in the beautiful foothills 10 minutes from Sante Fe.
Highly recommended!

We enjoyed a few really great days here and were delighted with the size and standard of the suite which was far more than we'd expected for the price paid. The facilities are good and well maintained and our suite quiet and comfortable. The generous (complimentary) breakfast buffet was appreciated, especially on "waffle day"!
There is a slight disadvantage in being a little way out of Santa Fe itself, but just that bit nearer Taos as a result.
Would recommend the Homewood suites wholeheartedly.

We drove from the Albequerque airport and arrived on May 3 for seven nights. At first we were taken aback by the somewhat remote location, about 20 miles from the Plaza, but soon realized that this is the place to stay if you want to explore the many beautiful attractions outside of Santa Fe. More on this in a bit.
We found the hotel to be quite enjoyable to stay for a week. The buffet breakfast is more than adequate and they change the main course offerings every day. The staff was very friendly and got along very well with each other and was on a first name basis with many of the regular guests.
On Monday - Thursday evenings they put out a nice hot meal along with a make your own salad, lemonade, beer and wine. This is included in your room rate and was most welcome after a full day of sight seeing. The one down side is that there are not many restaurants nearby but that will change when the resort / casino next door opens in August. I'm told there will be five restaurants in the large resort so there should definitely be something for everyone. The casino / resort is so close you could easily walk to it.
Our room was clean, fairly spacious and quiet. The condition of the room and common areas was excellent - like new.
Getting into the Santa Fe Plaza area takes about 30 minutes by the time you find a place to park. It's not too bad but not something you want to do after a day of driving around the countryside.
We took three full day trips. One to Bandelier National Monument park and to Los Alamos. Another day we drove on the "High Road to Taos" to see Taos and the many towns along the way. This is a beautiful drive. Finally we spent a day exploring the Pecos National park and ancient ruins. I highly recommend these areas.
We would definitely stay again at the Homewood Suites in Santa Fe!
