Feelin At Home At The Homewood Suites!!

Loved this hotel. It was amazingly clean, feels brand new, rooms are comfy, spacious and staff was incredible. The front desk staff was helpful and super friendly. (remembered our names, asked how our trip/day was, and smiled smiled smiled! :) we couldn't believe how incredible the breakfast staff was as well and how attentive they were too. They made special effort to make sure everything was fresh and even made time to walk around and check on us to make sure we were enjoying our meal/stay. Dishes were promptly removed from tables - making room for everyone. Nice selection for breakfast too! (kids made their own waffles and french toast fun fun!!)
Price was very affordable, location was near the freeway (but down a few blocks so no traffic noise). We normally enjoy five star resorts - for this economic trip, we were pleasantly surprised! Thanks so much - we will find a reason to come back soon :)
(we wanted to remember the girls names at the front desk...wrote them down and dont have them at work - sorry! But they worked all weekend this past week and were a++++++) also, the head bev and food (think his name was amid??) Was incredible too!!
Thanks homewood suites!

We stayed at this hotel May 24-31st 2008. Upon arrival we were treated very nice, and check in was quick and easy. I had rented a stroller from a local business San Diego Travel Baby (which I recommend) the front desk had the stroller waiting for me! We stayed in room 126 which is on the first floor. We had a 1 bedroom room and it was plenty of room for my husband our 3 year old son and myself. There was even a gift bag on the kitchen table that had snacks, bottled water, and a welcome note from staff. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of supplies, and was clean and efficient. The living room had a sleeper sofa which is where out son slept. The sleeper sofa was not bad, and worked for a small child. The bedroom was clean and had high ceilings, even a ceiling fan! The bedding was nice and there were several pillows on the bed. The sink is open to the bedroom, and the bathroom was clean and well stocked. The pool is heated, while it is not very warm it was nice and we spent as much time as we could at night in the pool. The hot tub is clean and soothing after a long day walking at the various attractions in the area. The best thing about this hotel, and one of the reasons we decided to stay there was the continental dinner. Monday we had Pot roast, mixed veggies, salad. Tuesday Turkey, mixed veggies, salad. Wednesday Deli sandwiches, soup, and salad. Thursday BBQ w/ hot dogs burgers and chicken, baked beans, and salad. And every night there is beer from a tap, wine, and various other drinks. The breakfast is also very good with a wide range of items including waffles, cereals, oatmeal, fruits, hot food like eggs, sausage, bacon, hash, and many other things as well. The negative about this hotel is the location; it is a bit of a drive to restaurants, shopping and attractions. But even though the location is far it is easy to find and you can get anywhere in about 10 minutes. Upon check out I noticed that we had been charged for a movie rental, I think my son might have hit a button on the remote and ordered a movie. The front desk was very helpful and stated that they would remove the charge. Another thing to note is the front office has a list of various business/restaurants near by that includes directions (be sure to ask for this list as it was very helpful for us)

We stayed for 3 nights over Memorial Day weekend. We stayed on the 4th floor and it was quiet. A breakfast buffet was included with the price. The hotel was probably full because the breakfast room was crowded every day when we were there. Lots of families with kids. The staff kept bringing out more food so nobody was waiting. Each day we had scrambled eggs, sausage & fried potatoes on Sat., corned beef hash on Sun. and bacon & fried potatoes on Mon. They also had waffles, bagels, toast, muffins, cereal, juice, fresh fruit, oatmeal, & yogurt. The room was clean and cleaned every day. The thermostat easily adjustable with a continuously running fan if you want. (We do.)
The staff was pleasant and helpful. The parking was free. It is in a corporate area so there is only one restaurant next door at the Hilton. You have to drive a ways to the mall for other restuarants. But overall it was a very good experience!

We've now converted from Embassy to Homewood!

As Hilton Honors Silver Members, we are loyal to Embassy Suites and have always stayed there, primarily for the two room suites and free hot breakfast. but recently tried a Homewood and we're glad we did. We have a stay at least once every few months. We live only 30 minutes away from this hotel but were visiting the Del Mar fair nearby so decided to stay.
The rooms are nice, although the bedroom could have been more spacious. The king bed is a "small" king, it seems short to me? I miss the option for the 2 queens that Embassy Suites usually has. The flatscreen TVs (2) are *very* nice. The room itself was clean and the full kitchen well stocked and everything clean.
The breakfast while not quite up to par with Embassy Suites (no made to order omelet bar) was nearly as good, several hot items although in my opinion they need a better hot tea bag selection for us who like tea. The dinner on the patio was what really sold me on this hotel. We stayed a Thursday night and dinner for my family of five included BBQ chicken breasts, beans, hamburgers and hotdogs, potato salad, fresh green salads, potato chips, lemonade, wine, beer, iced tea - all we wanted - plus all the condiments - completely free. I figure with free breakfast and free dinner for my family of five who are all hearty eaters I saved $100.
My only complaint - we had left in a hurry and I needed a toothbrush. I was told I could *buy* one at the shop in the hotel. I was disappointed to hear this as even budget hotels give out complimentary toothbrushes. However, when I was grumbling about this on the way to the elevator, a nice woman who worked there offered to bring one to my suite, which she did. Thanks Luz!

The room was clean and new. Staff was friendly and helpful. I tried printing my boarding passes, but the printer was not connected. The front desk clerk was not able to help but offered to print my boarding passes for me. Breakfast was good. Lots of families with kids though so don't expect a peaceful breakfast.
