Great facilities; poor service

Great facilities; poor service. That is how I would describe my stay. They offer a free evening dinner but it is not worth eating. There was no food at 7pm when I started eating (dinner is 6-8pm) and the quality of the food presented some 30 minutes later was less than satisfactory. I made this reservation believing I could justify the expense because dinner was included.
However, breakfast was very nice and I must compliment as a job well done.
Overall, this is a very new hotel and a great stay.
Remodeled and still great!

It had been a year or two since I last stayed at the Mobile Homewood. The last time it had started looking dated and old. But on my most recent stay (March 2008), the property has been remodeled and everything was excellent. The service was fast, the rooms clean, and the breakfast great (although crowded!). Beds are very comfortable too. My only complaint is the tight kitchen quarters where you can't swing the fridge all the way open. Otherwise, I will definitely stay here again!
Okay but not great

We stayed in a two room suite for one night while traveling from Texas to Georgia. The room layout was not as efficient as some other hotels as the bathroom is only assessable through the bedroom. Cleanliness was okay but not great. We found crumbs and debris on several surfaces and other items were not quite as clean as they should be. The big surprise was discovering a maintenance worker's complete set of keys including a key-card that would apparently open any door. We returned them to the front desk clerk who said "Gee, thanks. I guess somebody lost them." The breakfast was good and included hot items like scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits, and grits. For dinner, we ate at the Bonefish Grill next door and it was delicious. Be sure to go early as there was already a 20 minute wait at 6:00pm that stretched to 90 minutes by 7:30pm. All in all, this hotel is better than some but not as good as others in the same price range.

We had not stayed at this property before, but, based on the reviews on this site, decided to give it a shot. It may have been because our stay was over the Christmas holidays, but the staff seemed indifferent, like they were "mailing it in" while we were there. Our room wasn't adequately prepared for our arrival -- it smelled bad, there were multiple obvious stains on the couch & floor, only 1 garbage can for the whole suite, and not enough towels for our registered guests. Also, the door between our room & the next didn't appear to lock correctly. We've stayed at lots of other Hilton family properties, including other Homewood Suites, but this one didn't seem to live up to the buzz on this site.

We used Trip Advisor to find this motel, and all the positive reviews were right. Friendly, helpful staff, beautiful accomodations, and when I gave my AAA card, excellent value ($97.00). Also, restaurant next store is outstanding.
Much nicer than Hampton Inn's where we stayed in other stops on our way.
