My wife and I booked a saturday night for a friends wedding nearby. Location was excellent. We were booked into room 7 in the mansion. Our room was a disgrace. the kitchen exhaust fans blew the kitchen smoke directly into our room. The oversized windows were patched around a small room AC unit. The seal was less than perfect. In addition: tiny old towels, coffee maker but no coffee, a dumpster view, hand lotion but no shampoo, and the worst breakfest I have ever seen. All this for over 250.00 per night. I have spent 15 years in the hospitality business and have never seen such a frightful room at any price. Avoid this inn. I complained but got no satisfaction or call from the management. This inn needs to be redone or closed down. KA

My family and I stayed at the lighthouse Inn over the weekend of July 12th and 13th 2008. We arraived around 8pm on Staurday night after a long day in NYC. When I arrived at the desk they had no reservation for me and I could see by the crowd they had a wedding going on. The lady at the desk could not have been more helpful. They did not have a room that would take all 4 of us so she gave us 2 rooms with an ocean view. We also had excellant service in the lounge, we ordered dinner at around 9pm and although it took awhile to get our food it was very good. We could tell they were shorthanded. The next morning the same lady informed me thet they were switching us to the best suite in the house for not having our reservation. I do agree that the continental breakfast leaves something to be desired, but that is a minor glitch. I also agree that the hotel is dated but the history of the place makes up for it. The brunch on Sunday was very good but very expensive, I think they should post the prices so there is no surprise when you get the bill. The private beach is great but the pool was green during our stay. Before we left they had finally put up a sign saying pool closed . Overall our stay was very enjoyable, and the staff was wonderful.

This hotel is a gracious, old building with nice rooms. The service at the desk was good and the people in the tavern kept the kitchen open for us and service and food was good. I could see though that the hotel is a bit run down, but overall, the furniture etc. was fine. The cleanliness was fine. We had flying insects in the room b/c the windows did not have screens. It did not bother us much, but other people would be bothered. We had the sound of the fountain all night and our friends had a beautiful suite on the 1st floor.

We had hoped for a great night there. Unfortunately, the room we got was NOT anything like the pics on their website. It was MAYBE a step up from a college dorm room...no view...the hotel is FAR removed from the water...AND...for $175.00!
The two staff members we saw at the front desk (checking in and out) were very nice.
We suggest you verify which room you'll be in...don't just look at their website and assume all the rooms are as nice as the few they show there. Some (like ours) are horribly over-priced.
We stay at many inns in New England and NY and this was by far the worst "value" we ever had the misfortune to experience.
Buyer beware.
