Nice Hotel, Strange City

Probably one of the nicer hotels I stayed at during a recent tour of the Greek Islands: comfortable beds, clean and reasonably spacious bathroom (with proper shower doors as opposed to the shower curtains that like to hug you while showering), good breakfast. I wasn't wild about the massive mirror covering one whole wall and was just glad there wasn't one on the ceiling. Location is hard to find, the main square area is expensive and nothing special. In general, I wasn't a fan of the city of Heraklion, though the Knossos was interesting. If you're going to be in Heraklion, this is probably one of your best bets hotel-wise.

The web site looks very slick and professional, the pictures are impressive. Arriving at the hotel, however, is a bit of a disappointment. Our room was tiny and the AC didn't work. The unit was operational, it's just that it couldn't blow any cold air so it functioned as a fan to circulate warm air around the room. The safe didn't work either. No complaints about breakfast. Location was convenient and quiet. The staff were polite and friendly, just not very knowledgeable. None of them were able to answer questions about museum operating hours and even the weather forecast, which should be pretty basic info every tourist wants to know. "Looks cloudy" is hardly insightful. Make sure you eat at the awesome Brillant restaurant (part of Leto hotel); that gourmet gem definitely doesn't belong in a dump like Heraklion.

Just stayed here one night but it's a very modern, clean and classy hotel. It seems to be geared to business people and tourists. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet was one of the largest we had on our trip in all of Italy and Greece. Great location for exploring little city of Heraklion.

The second stop on our vacation.
An excellent property with a solid gold breakfast prepared fresh. The room was very confortable and the location was ideal. A short walk to the Four Lions Plaza with an abundance of eating places and terrasses to libate and watch the crowd after a day of touring.
The hotel was ultra clean in all areas, the staff are truly accommodating. Even to the extent of allowing us to use their internet for few minutes every evening to check our emails.
On our return to Vancouver we recommended to our travel agent to keep this property in mind when booking without fear. An excellent choice if you want to be downtown.
