My husband and I stayed at this beautiful place for 3 nights. We found the owners to be the most nicest, friendliest and helpful people we met on our 3 week stay in Europe. We will definately be staying here again. This time with our 2 daughters as they tours that they organised for us at the forts of the Maginot Line were outstanding. The meals were superb. The highlight of our trip.

Spent 3 nights at the hotel in April and found it to be satisfactory. The location is very nice high above the city. Our room was quite comfortable with a large bathroom. I would suggest however that the management spend a little money and invest in some new towels as the ones used in our bathroom were consistently very worn.
I would agree with a previous reviewer that the breakfast was very disappointing and definitely not worth the cost. After 5 weeks of travel and numerous hotel stays, this establishment offered the poorest breakfast by far. This definitely could be improved. Can't comment on any other meals as we did not have the opportunity to dine at the hotel.
I would also advise that anyone who is not able to climb stairs find other accommodations as there is no elevator in the hotel.
The staff were pleasant so no complaints in this area.

Visited L'Horizon on route to Switzerland in March 2005 with two teenage sons. Impressed with quiet charm of Hotel and welcome by hostess/owner.
The dinner was excellent all round and we all had different choices. Our breakfast was simple but fresh and the home made conserves were delightful, hot chocolate was delicious. Would certainly stay again if travelling in area.

This is a pleasant quiet hotel in a slightly odd setting - from the terrace you get magnificent views, but sadly only of Thionville, an extremely dull small town. But it's well placed as a stop between London and Lake Como. It is close to the Maginot Line if war in Europe turns you on (it certainly does the owner, judging by the number of books about it on display in the lounge). Rooms are comfortable, although our bathroom was cramped. Food is decent French provincial cooking served in a spacious and attractive dining room. Wine list is wide-ranging but expensive. Breakfast was disappointing (stale croissants, no fresh fruit, mediocre coffee). Not a place to take a detour for, but if you are in the Moselle region, you could do worse.
