My husband and I stayed here while my husband attended a conference in Aix. We loved the Mas des Ecureuils and had no trouble finding it, given the many signs directing us to it. The hotel has lovely rooms, lovely grounds and wonderful hosts. We were sorry we did not have time to eat dinner there.
The hotel is out of town, though, and a car is absolutely necessary to get into Aix. Travelers need to decide whether they want the bucolic and pleasant location, which then requires finding parking in Aix, or the convenience of staying in town, which can get rather crowded and noisy. I would choose to stay at Mas des Ecureils again, particularly if I wanted to explore Provence rather than just visit Aix.

My husband and I spent 3 nights in Le Mas des Ecureuils and absolutely loved it!
The hotel only has 24 rooms and, because it is not over-crowded and very relaxed, it feels like it is a family home! We stayed in a superior room overlooking the swimming pool and the forest. The room was spacious and very quiet, and certainly more authentic French than big international hotel chain, which appealed to us. We had a lovely terrace, which was just perfect to have a chilled bottle rose wine before dinner!
Breakfast (by the pool) was very nice: viennoiseries (super fresh croissants and pains au chocolat), fresh baguette, jam, cheese, cold meats, eggs etc. The lunches we had were ideal - fresh salads again by the pool. We did not try the restaurant for dinner but it looked very nice.
Activity-wise, one can play table tennis, use the hammam, go walking in the pine-tree forest, swim or read a book in one of the hammocks. The hotel's location is ideal for exploring the region: Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, Cassis etc...there is so much to see!
The staff are absolutely wonderful and nothing is too much to ask. If the food you fancy is not on the menu, the chef will always try to accommodate you. If you want a drink by the pool, they will bring to you. If you want to get a taxi, they will call it for you and act as an interpreter with taxi driver if you don't speak French. That said, we found it very useful to have a hire car to get around and there's plenty of free parking at the hotel.
Overall. a lovely place to spend some quality time....we will definitely be back!

Beware of booking here. I cancelled my stay here on time, but they said they didn't have my reservation, so don't worry about it. Later, they told me I should have cancelled with the online agency, so they're trying to charge me for the stay for supposedly not cancelling.

My wife and I booked this hotel for 4 nights. The reason is that we wanted to travel all over Provence, be close to Aix without having to worry about parking the car. The hotel is pretty isolated from the city, close enough by driving (around 20 min) and offers plenty of space so that you don't have to worry about where to park the car. GPS is highly recommanded as it can be hard to find if you miss the road signs, especially when leaving downtown Aix.
The hotel itself is pretty much as described in the most positive reviews. The pool is nice but very honestly, this is not something very unique. What makes this hotel different is that it's really charming.., The rooms are simple but offer the kind of home comfort that makes you forget about work. The outside terrace is lovely and if one wants to go for a walk, the pine tree forest is an ideal place where natural beauty is mixed with silence.
We tried the breakfast and it was great (even though it's pretty expensive.. fresh croissant are not rare in France). We didn't try the dinner as we prefered to have it in Aix.
All in all, a great place, worth the price and a great base for a tour around Provence (the A7 highway is 10 mn from the hotel.. and takes you pretty much everywhere).
I would definitely like to have a stay there again.
