We decided at the last minute to overnight in Dresden on the way to Berlin. We were having no luck calling the budget hotels in our guidebook before we arrived and just stopped in at the hotel on the way into town to see if they had rooms available (so we did pay rack rate). This was my first time in a Mercure and it was quite nice. Recently built (like much in Dresden) so furnishings were all current and new. Room was typically european small. Very comfortable bed (especially after two nights of youth hostels). Hotel is located in a light industrial area on a main road into town. Unfortunately, our room faced the main road, so quite a bit of traffic noise. I imagine rooms on the Elbe River side of the hotel would have quite a pleasant view and be quiet. About 100-meter walk to the bus and streetcar line, but only 5-minute ride into downtown once on the streetcar. Reception was very accomodating with our car (allowing us to park in garage overnight when we trained to Prague the next day). Internet access is available but very expensive.

Nice and good Hotel in case you want to discover not only Dresden but also the amazing surrounds of Elbe River valley. Public transportation close to the hotel and the Bus brings you in 5 minutes right to the Historical part of Dresden. The room was very large, clean and had a balcony open to the river. Great view also from Bar/Restaurant. The Staff was really helpful and provided every information about the City, public transportation, etc. Will stay there again if are in the Region.

The hotel was a ways out of town but it’s modern, clean, has satellite TV, hairdryer in the room, and a sauna which we didn’t have time to use. The breakfast buffet is very good as well.

Das Hotel lag sehr weit außerhalb der Stadt, ist aber sehr modern, sauber und hat Satelliten TV, Fön im Zimmer, eine Sauna, die wir aber aus Zeitmangel nicht nutzen konnten. Das Frühstücksbüfett war ebenfalls sehr gut.
