Our family of four spent three nights at the Chateau de Pray. The hotel is located 5 minutes from Amboise and is on a very quiet and tranquil side road. This is a very nice chateau overlooking expansive gardens which contain fruit trees, fruit plants, flower gardens and vegetable gardens - our kids had a great time picking fresh raspberries and cherries. The hotel has a large typical French garden area with a walkway that leads down to the pool located just down a hill where our kids spend the early evening unwinding in. The rooms are clean and washrooms have been updated. Each room is unique in size and furnishings. There is no air conditioning at the chateau. The room we had was spacious enough to accommodate our family with the main room containing a queen size bed and bathroom with shower/tub, sink and separate toilet and an adjoining room with two single beds and bathroom with a shower and sink for our children. The main entrance consists of a reception desk with the dining room on one side and another room on the other side which was used as the access to the back gardens so there is no location to lounge within the main area itself - this did not impact us at all. Breakfast is held in a separate extension of the building and was very good. We could also order drinks in the back garden area. Staff were very courteous and helpful.

we spent a couple of nights here in may 2008. we had a top floor turrett room. the room was very nicely decorated and the bathroom had a bath. one had to be careful of the roof in the bathroom though. we had dinner here one night and it was lovely. the grounds are very nice and there is a little forrest next to the property that you can walk through. lack of tea and coffee facilities and an iron in the room were a let down. i wouldnt bother with breakfast in the hotel, the town of amboise is within a 5 minute drive and a major super market and a mcdonalds are within a 2 minute drive

As we booked our reservation late we were only able to stay one night but it sure was worth it !! Lovely staff and owners. Great location. An easy 5 to 10 min. drive to Amboise center. We made our children suffer through an "adult dinner" that night so that we could eat at the hotel restaurant and they were even impressed. The food was wonderful, the staff was great and also very kind to the children. The waiter even let my son help open the bottle of wine. Just be aware, this is a Michelin star rated restaurant so it's quite expensive. Even for the kids. But it's worth every bite !! Our room was a good size and the bathroom was also very roomy. There was a door in our bedroom that lead to another small room with two single beds for the children and an additional bathroom with a shower and sink. The breakfast is quite expensive for pastries, cereal and fruit but all in all we loved our stay here and wished we could have stayed longer.
