This hotel is really nice they remolded it and is is very up to date,
HOWEVER apon checking in I had to pay with my credit card I had two rooms and I paid seperately they screwed up MY two credit cards so bad that IT took me over a week to resolve and IS still not resolved, the staff are not trained propertly and should not be using A credit card system IF THEY ARE NOT EQUIPT, THEY NEED proper TRAINING. THEY RIPPED ME OFF FOR OVER 1000.00 on one of my cards AND 335 ON another. This is totally UNEXCEPTABLE. even the general manager could NOT RESOLVE. I have been argeing with there staff since CHECK-IN. I suggest IF you don't want more than your stay off of your credit card that you find another hotel to stay in. otherwise you will be missing lots of money.

Can't Wait To Go Back To The Berkeley Hotel in Asbury Park, N.J.

My husband's family used to spend summers at the original Berkeley Carteret in 1940's. He always remembered it as an elegant hotel. Years passed and the hotel and area deteriorated. We had an opportunity to visit Asbury Park recently and decided to stay at The Berkeley. Wow! It was absolutely beautiful. The rooms and bathrooms are new and gorgeous. They offer bagels, juice and coffee in the morning. The staff is friendly and informative. We were surprised at how much they knew about the old hotel and it's surroundings. If anyone is planning a special event their ballrooms are breathtaking! It's also exciting to see how the boardwalk area is being renovated.
We can't wait to make another trip to New Jersey and will only stay at The Berkeley.

My wife and child stayed at the Berkeley for 2 nights and we had a very nice stay. The rooms have been renovated and the decor was nice. On day 2 we missed the continental breakfast and my son was upset because he was hungry. A man walking down the lobby floor over heard my son about being hungry and he stoped and said to wait.
The man was the General Manager, his name was John, and he brought out a large "goodie bag" filled with all kinds of snacks for our son. Our son was so happy and I feel that the General Manager went above and beyond.
The hotel staff was very nice and our family will be staying there again this summer. ........and the outdoor pool was GREAT

hotel seemed very nice. Front desk girl was terribly rude to me , and when i asked to see the manager , she was rude too. Room was ok - looked nice - but lacked major items that a hotel usually has, like a mini fridge, bathmat, trashcan, chair in front of mirror for makeup.
Overall, the hotel is chic and well decorated, but the renovation is so sloppy and cheap, especially the lobby. the bathtub in the hotel wasn't replaced and the jets were spewing nasty brownish water that was remaining in them for who knows how long. Elevator was broken.
We had an event here, and the event planner, Cheryl, made promises that weren't kept. The manager couldn't do anything about it, and was rude and did not make any attempt to apologize for her event planner's broken promises. I love asbury park, but unfortunately would plan an event elsewhere next time.

Let me just start by saying, this hotel is overpriced, has no amenities (not even coffee/water in your room) and even though the room looks ok, I would never stay here again. The experience at this hotel was very disappointing from start to finish - the water in the rooms came out of the faucets completely brown (I have pictures!) and when I found no drinking water onsite at the hotel, I was told to drink the tap water (would you drink brown tap water?!). The poor staff (doing their best despite owners charging a price designed for a hotel with amenities such as a restaurant and cold/hot drinks available) had to order out for water. The batteries in the remote were dead and the 'great' new flat screen TV had a very poor signal and therefore the quality was not very good. The coffee was cold and there were many signs that this 'newly renovated hotel' was more like 'not finished renovating hotel' (have pictures to prove this). I never usually write reviews but as a person who stays at many hotels I really had to say something - this hotel is really not worth the price - they should charge $100 a night and then you wouldn't see this review but for what I was charged - $243, you could do a lot better with your money - camping for example!!
