We booked our stay through our credit card points system. We were promised free lunch for each person, each day of our stay. When we arrived we discovered the promotion is actually for one lunch during the entire stay. Rather than being able to choose from the actual menu at the restaurant, we were given our choice from two options: meat or pasta. We were also seated separately from the other guests, in the back of the restaurant.
We got to our room the day we arrived, ready to relax and the sheets on the bed were still wet! We called the front desk to ask for dry sheets and had to wait 20 minutes, only for them to bring another set of damp sheets.
The so-called "suite" that we booked was actually just a regular room with a couch and table.
The service in this hotel was beyond poor. Just to get our key upon returning after a day out was a chore. Anytime we needed something at the front desk we had to wait 5 or 10 minutes while they ignored us until they were ready to attend to us. Half the time we were then attended by someone who was in training, but instead of asking another staff member for help they just went on to someone else if they didn't know how to help us.
The supposedly remodeled room had water damage on the ceiling.
The hotel is comfortable and clean, but a great disappointment. The staff made us feel unwelcome. I live here in Argentina, and was hoping for a nice vacation in Buenos Aires with my fiance (who is Argentinean), but our long weekend was instead a partial let down because of our stay at the Rochester Classic.

So-so hotel

Let me start by saying that I am generally easy to please. The GOOD: the breakfast. Plenty of fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, pastries, breads, sausage, juices, coffee and a guy making eggs/omelets. Must try the chocolate covered churros...yum-o! The hotel is close to the metro and Calle Florida (big shopping street). Overall the hotel was a reasonable price for what we got, room was clean and lobby area and staff were pleasant. There is a police man standing outside the hotel at all times so for that reason we felt safe walking back to our hotel at night. Shower has great water pressure!
The BAD: Let me start by saying there was nothing bad enough about this hotel to break our vacation but I probably wouldnt stay there again. Elevator only fits 3 people max, and its tight with 3 people in there. The neighborhood isnt ideal, kinda scary at night. Our stay (booked on Expedia) included one free lunch at the hotel restaurant. You can only chose from one of two dishes, you get charged for any drinks and 'use of silverware' and the food was disgusting. My husband got the chicken and I got the pasta. The chicken had a creamy mushroom sauce and it came with a side of rice, the entire meal tasted like a nasty TV dinner. My pasta was mini ravioli stuffed with greens. The 'greens' part tasted literally like grass and the whole dish tasted like Chef Boyardee pasta from a can. After having said all this, I want to mention that I am not a picky eater, I like almost all different kinds of food. The room itself was a little decrepid. There were a few stains in the closet that looked like water stains but overall the room was clean. The bathroom was miniscule, hardly enough room to turn around with the door shut, and I am only 5ft tall! We asked the front desk staff if they could call Cafe Tortoni to see what time the tango show was on Saturday night and the girl wrote the address and phone number on a post-it note and told us we could call them from the room. But of course there is a charge to call from the room so when we asked her if she could call the Cafe, she politely told us no. I am one of those exercise freaks that likes to use the gym at all the hotels I go to. This one was absolutely non-functional. First of all I couldnt find it. There are 2 sets of elevators, the one behind the stairs is the one that goes to the gym, you have to take the elevator to the 10th floor and then walk up one flight of stairs to the 11th floor. The gym consisted of a treadmill, exercise bike and one leg machine which were all broken.
Overall we loved Buenos Aires and this hotel didnt wreck our trip but beware for the things I mentioned above if you do decide to stay there. Pura Vida.

The Rochester Classic is a good choice for a moderately priced hotel in Buenos Aires. The hotel itself reminds me of a boutique hotel you might find it New York City. It has been recently remodeled, and the rooms are nicely appointed, if not plush. Our room had hard wood floors, cable, a small refrigerator, and nicely coordinated bedding. The bathroom had been recently remodeled and was very nice. My only complaint about the room was that the showerhead was not installed properly and sprayed water from the connectors, but this is a small complaint. As for the hotel itself, the front desk attendants are very friendly, and there was always at least one person working who spoke excellent English. There is also a restaurant in the hotel that has good food, although it somewhat lacking in character and is a bit expensive (compared to other similar restaurants). The location of the hotel is good, within walking distance of many sites in El Centro, and also the Galeria Pacifica and a large pedestrian district with shops and restaurants.
